What to wear out there plus bike question
I am about to purchase a used BMW R1100RT to use for touring the pacific NW and likely to end up anywhere from the high desert in the heat to the cold and rainy high mountains of BC. My question concerns what the optimal riding gear might look like. Suggestions? Also advice on particularly what bike has had problems or special features would be appreciated.

I'd look on google for some waterproof textile 1 piece suits that zip open.

And a BMW specific forum would probably have better answers about that particular bike.

Okay thanks. Will a textile suit protect me in a fall?

Yes, not as good as leather but better than jeans and sweatshirt.

Two piece suits are nice...one piece will make you look like a BMW GS pro.

Then you gotta gets big metal lunch pails and strap'em on to the sides and plaster them international stickers of places you have either been to, want to go to, or want others to believe you have been to.

j/k

They have some really nice textile suits, that as long as you're not going mach 10, they'll protect you pretty well.

If I road a GS I would think not along the lines of leather and sliding over pavement at 60+MPH, but of what would be best to tumble down a mountain in.

These are great street suits. They go over your clothes so when you get somewhere you want to kick around you can take the suit off and have normal clothes.

Okay so perhaps I should get a leather suit then put the textile one over it when it gets cold.

I have a friend who is a serious Iron Butt rider who swears by his stitch.

I, on the other hand, prefer a Utilikilt (commando) and a tank top.

Great gear. Add a heated jacket liner and gloves. I'm on my 2nd Aerostich one piece.

Okay ladies I just joined this forum and I gave myself the name Dumbass cause I couldn't think of a better name. Now this may be dumb but please explain to me what the troll reference is about.
