I broke my collar bone at the time, and it was a highside. I was probably going faster than him, and went FLYING. I haven't seen a full face helmet do that to someone before though... no matter what the circumstance. |

| Streetfighter ![]() | Its simple and a very old saying; A $10 helmet for a $10 head. Was looking at the new Shoei Modular helmet today. Thing is the shit. Went over and tried the Scorpion Modular right after. Both fit, but yea, There is a $300 difference. I'll be buying the Neotec after I get back. My X-Eleven is getting 4-5 yrs old and starting to pack out. My heads worth it to Me. ![]() |

People in Volvos also get hurt when they crash, and don't have that much of a statistically different chance of dying in those "super safe" premium cars over say....a bottom of the barrel Ford Escort! Also, no matter how many tests they run to tell you an Arai is worse than a Bell is better than a Suomy...if the highest rated helmet doesn't fit and the medium rated helmet does... 86.7% of internet users say the highest rated helmet will still protect you better. Because proper head fitment isn't as important as the sticker on the side and being able to soapbox because you "only ride with the best rated stuffs". |

I mean the fall test amounts to 84 lbs. and no helmet passes "better" than another. It's a pass or fail test. Plastic's bend on impact but break down after a few years. Carbon fiber or Fiberglass absord shock but will break and shatter. Thats why you hear both comments every few years, but its Plastic helmets you need to replace every couple years, and Fiberglass you need to replace after a crash. Here is the snell testing info....It's less than impressive, but if you fail this what good is it. http://www.smf.org/testing Sucks for the guy that crashed but really a 60 mpg face plant goes way beyond the test to get a snell or DOT rating. |

What I think you are saying is, a consumer should do more research beyond companies' marketing, cost and general opinion on which helmet is safer. It always seems a shame to have to reiterate safety equipment should fit, be in good condition and be used correctly but, sir you are correct to do so. | |
