Smile Found a good cornering practice route....
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=S...p=1&sz=13&z=13

I found a set of corners to practice on. This run was my second time around, lots of different types of corners and road conditions. It will take me a few tries to get my lines right.....still working on that.

I apologize for the wind noise...tried to reduce that as much as I could.

You've got some seriously wacky tach-y!

Looks like a fun stretch of pavement.... just too damn much traffic for me.

Nice looking road. Where is that?

I would recommend taking the other key off before it scratches all the paint off your new clubwomans I use a mini clip to put the key back on the bunch when I'm done riding.

Fixt....

Now you realize this will change the way my bike feels....so off to get more practice. :-)

The tach is pretty wacky...

The road is Central Point and New Era rd in Oregon City. Fun run in the 240z, even more fun on the bike!!!

EDIT: I just got back from that ride with the bars switched. Yeah, it changed the handling.....by a lot!! I can now see the difference between the sport bike configuration cornering and the cruizer configuration. Night and Day. The turns were less "twitchy". Turns were more smooth and controlled. The tach even works better....geewiz

1000% improvement. Well done.
Also, I feel like you need a new tach cable.

Wow, I haven't been following your bike build lately, it sure turned out great! Did you get the petcock issue fixed?

Thanks....Yes, the petcock is in good shape now. I went out for another ride....WOW. The main reason I had the bars the up-side wrong way, was because being a newb, I was not sure about riding in that position...a bit skeerd of falling over thems handlebars.

Not anymore.....

Pleb, boy do I know some great roads around OC. We will have to get a ride together, and I will take it easy on ya, as well as showing you some great twistage.

I would love that for sure! I rode the bike to work today from Oregon City to Providence ST Vincents...and will head out to Tanasbourne later today before coming home. I thought the forward riding position was going to uncomfortable....actually it was very comfortable and riding 205-I5-217 was great! My hands did not fall asleep and I did not feel like I was in danger of going over the handlebars either...lol

Bring the twisties!!

Time to dig out some maps and get off the highway.

Correction: NW Skyline to NW Logie Trail and you will be in Hillsboro the RIGHT way.

Next time instead of turning down the New Era hill, continue on Central Point until you hit 213 and that's about a 5-6 miles section of some good corners, slow, fast, blind, etc..... along with a nice long up and down straight that's easily capable of hitting 100+mph in a small compact car... as long as you can control the jostling from the occasional crack in the road.

Another thing about that stretch from New Era to Highway 213 (the stop at the end)... it's entirely possible to make it just over 4.5 minutes in a car.....

UPDATE.....Tried this with my new bike today....FUN!!

Sorry about the wind noise again....still need a better camera for this sort of thing, but you can get a general idea of the differences between the KZ400 and my new baby the 85 VF500f Intercepter. I have improved, but still need practice....It is hard to see the speedo, but you can see the passing trees for speed reference vs the KZ.

You are apexing too early and it puts you too close to the dy and fog line. Not so bad for more open road like that, but on the more blind corners, you can be fucked. Horribly.
