Husqvarna unveils new TR650 Terra and Strada

In fact, the new Huskies, like the street-only Nuda introduced last year, borrow a version of the Beemer’s one-lunger.
Put simply, they took BMW's long standing 650 single cylinder used in the F(now G)650GS and are coming out with 2 bikes. One street, one dual sport. Engine has been tuned with revised cam/piston/compression ratio and is now 58HP.

Will hit the USA later this year. Curious that BMW seems to making Husky compete with their own(BMW) bikes. I'd certainly take one of these over a G650GS! My only complaint is that they're a bit heavy, 410pounds wet


Output 43 kW (58 hp) at 7,250 rpm and maximum torque of 60 Nm at 5,750 rpm.
Seat Height: 33.8 in. (Strada)/34.4 in. (Terra)
Curb Weight: 410 lbs. (Strada)/407.8 lbs. (Terra)
Front Rim: 2.50x19 in. cast aluminum (Strada)/1.85x21 in. spoke (Terra)
Rear Rim: 3.50x17 in. cast aluminum (Strada)/3.00x18 in. spoke (Terra)
Fuel Capacity: 3.57 gal.

another "Sumo" heavier than my Street Bike. If it weighs more than 200lbs, it aint a Sumo

? these aren't advertised one bit as being a sumo, on the contrary, they seem to be a full on street bike and modest dual sport, but not a sumo

Adverts aside. Look at the bike. It looks like a Sumo and weighs twice as much as one should. Like the Hypermotard and KTM690. They are street bikes trying to be Sumo's.

Makes me wonder if BMW will scale back, or cease, production of their 650's for the time being (ie: as long as they own Husky).

They will be rad, like most of Husqv bikes. Hell, the NudaR recently competed in the Erzberg Rodeo, if you dont think thats a legit performance machine, the i don't know what to tell ya.

I rode the G650Xmoto a few years back, my complaints were that it needed a tad more power and a slightly higher redline. Husky has done just that. Should be a fun round town bike and one heck of a reliable engine. Those 650 singles have quite the following, and have been known to last for freaking ever. (100K+) It's rotax designed originally.

This. My ktm 250 in dirt trim weighs 220lbs. Although I agree huskys build pigs when it comes to street bikes, no one is gonna have a sumo under 200 lbs unless your idea of a sumo is a 125 2 stroke with slicks.

All of these bikes are pretty damn sweet, but heavy for what they are. I have absolutely no plans on upgrading mine anytime soon.

It would still weigh more than 200lbs, but they are fun!

These Huskys are a little too portly, nearly KLR poundage!? My 650 is 100lbs lighter, but you do have to kick it.

I rode a BMW G650GS and it wasn't bad. My main beef was with the transmission, which was a bit clunky, especially for a brand-new bike, and only had 5 speeds. Maybe I just wasn't used to it, but I found myself always searching for the right gear. Others agreed with me, so maybe it's not just me.

All indications are that that motor does last a loooong time, though. I'd be more interested if it had 6 gears, and a bit more closely-spaced.

Same power and 160lbs heavier than my husaberg 570...yeah, nothing says supermoto fun more than carrying around an extra fat chick with you.

Or, this is 60lbs more than my Daytona with 65 less hp

BMW, with the notable exception of the s1000, just doesn't seem to get the power to weight ratio thing.
