I was going to wait until Saturday to pick the bike up, but with the way last night and this morning went, I'm bringing it home today. Will post video of first ride sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. Be prepared for several stalls, probably a few unintentional wheelies, and general n00bishness. Never handled a Duc before and I've been told they've got some...quirks. |

In fact, the clutch engagement and throttle response felt completely natural (although I need to adjust the clutch lever). Think I might like the bars tilted back a bit more - something's got my right arm all upset. Definitely need to adjust pedals, and the suspension is a bit soft for my taste. Bad news: Camera died mere minutes into the ride. I forgot to charge and clear it last night, so no vid. Nothing impressive anyway, although my first hot 1->2 shift snapped my head back pretty awesome. Was NOT ready for second gear being so meaty. First is grannied, but second let me know what torque really feels like. I've gotta get driven back to MotoCorsa to fetch the work van, then shuttle the R6 back to its home. Gonna be the last time I ride the R6 for a while. Tearing it apart for maintenance. That thing has served me well for the past year and a quarter, and now it's time for it to take a break. This Duc is a hoot. Oh, and that Quat-D Ex-Box exhaust? I could feel it in the tunnels. Holy crap. |

I had it up to half-throttle for maybe one whole second before chickening out. First gear disappears almost instantly, and second doesn't last much longer. Yup, I'm going to get in trouble on this thing. It may not have a ton of horsepower, but you can actually *use* it on the street. First gear tops out around 35mph(ish), so you hit peak hp somewhere around 30mph. Crazy. Now to adjust the suspension. Too damn soft, even for a street bike. Or maybe I'm too fat. Or both. Too much squat and dive. Unsettling. |

I go through the gears so quick on the on ramps I have to de-celerate to enter the highway. That's the way Ducati does their stripes. ![]() Last edited by Gene S; 07-22-2012 at 08:35 PM.. |

Located source: right-side fitting on oil cooler. Tightened that sumbitch down (it was barely finger-tight!), sprayed it good with brake cleaner, gave it another go and the leak appears to have stopped. Whoever was working on this bike last didn't quite finish torquing things down... But all is well for now. |
