Lost onramp race to cager

I hit the i205 onramp, smoothly building speed and a cager comes up from behind, pulling alongside me to my right just as the right lane must merge (I'm in left lane).

I give it a bit more gas, expecting to pull safely ahead of him but it's clear he's flooring it with a screaming engine. Ok dude, you want it that much, have fun.

The car was some kind of small hatchback. It continues flying up the onramp pulling well away from me at approx 80 and stomping on the brakes to awkwardly merge into congested traffic.

Several seconds later I'm in the fast lane passing the dude. Look over at the guy and he's staring ahead at the bumper of the next car (slow lane).

So congrats dude, you 'beat' an FZ6 @ 1/4 throttle w/ a very uninterested rider.

I worry about those tuner cars, some are as fast or faster than your 600. In traffic, your wise to yield the right of way to them, it's better than becoming a hood ornament.

Had this happen to be on an i5 onramp when i still had a ninja 250. Someone in a old civic si saw me pull behind him at the light and he jsut floored it down the on ramp. I easily kept up shifting at around 9k rpm.. then halfway down he/she must have misshift and a very large amount of black smoke came out of the exhaust. It was pretty funny.
