Depending on which way you're going on your bike, you could be passing people to their left OR to their right. Usually snapping my brakes is enough to get their attention. If not yelling ain't gonna help so I just ride around them. Half the time they just get startled. | |

There are quite frequently, times when it is eminently appropriate (and totally legal, I might add) to 'take the lane'. Just like on a motorcycle, it's usually to keep cagers from killing you, and on a bike, one has even less options. |

"taking the lane" on a motorcycle can/will get your ass killed. On a bicycle it could do that or just get you enveloped in a cloud of diesel smoke depending on the company you're in. Bicycle=no reasonable expectation of right of way on the road (legal or not) or on a walking path. Legal doesn't matter when you're in a coma. | |
