I like to share stories of idiot cager experiences. It's like we can shake our heads together at all the dummies.

The "F-ing cager" threads are getting old, especially considering that a very small percentage of riders here ride 365, and quite likely shlep to work in a mini van any day the weather isn't suitable. There is 0% chance that any laws will be passed to outlaw cars or stupidity. You ride a small feeble machine and your body parts are exposed. Regardless of what law there is, or if you have it all on helmet cam, you can be "right" and still end up in a wheel chair or worse. I've seen "close call" videos posted where the rider was 10-20 over the posted limit and a car backs out of the driveway 50 yards ahead. Really? That constitutes an emergency or epic fail on the part of the other driver? Looks like any ride on any day to me.

Is this a coincidence, or perhaps you're not used to vehicles other than you changing directions? Not everything is on rails, and that's not how the real world works. Good thing you have the x-ray vision eyes of Superman, unlike all those cagers, and your bike is so flickable. Did you wear your cape today? Thank God it wasn't an old black woman driving a Ford Taurus that pissed you off. You could have "kicked her ass". Oh, and it's "FnA", not "F an A", I should kick your ass. For people on phones, I prefer to pass them at a later opportune time whilst using my hand to simulate talking on a cell phone while wagging my head. I did that to a lady once. 4 minutes after I got home she shows up at the mailboxes to get her mail. My bike was in the driveway, clearly visible. I stared her down the whole time she was at the mailboxes. Haven't seen the issue since. |

It's part of the deal, and up to you on how to avoid it as best as possible. It could be as easy as riding a little slower, throttling out of it, not being in someone's blind spot. most importantly, paying more attention to what is going on around you than the people around you paying attention to you. Learning to read traffic is an extremely helpful tool - along with knowing where your exits are at any given time while on the road. |

Unless, you're social circle is comprised of fellow riders, there really isn't anyone you can rant to who would understand. Yes, we all come across our share of bad/oblivious drivers (some are even white males), but it feels just a little bit better after bitching after a close call. |

Try to post local next time to avoid the bs. Doesn't work every time, but it helps. -R p.s. Thursday night ride 6:30 out of South Salem. |

My commute is 219 to Tualatine sherwood highway to Roy Rogers out of Cornelius to Tualatin and back. Lots of cages passing in no passing zones and crossing yellow lines in the corners, slow moving farm equipment etc... Beautiful scenery riddled with stupid people. Still a awesome morning and evening commute. I think the small varmits and deer crossing the roads at 4:30am bother me more than anything else. |
