Question Bike luggage security
I recently got a 03 Goldwing so the missus and I could do some traveling together, in Sept we are planning on bombing over to Yellowstone on I-90 and then meandering our way back over the course of a week. So we will be 2 up and camping most of the time, the Goldwing has a lot of storage but I will need to put the tent and our liners/extra gloves and such in a dry-bag on the trunk rack. I have been trying to figure out a way I can lock the dry-bag down so when we go for a hike or into a restaurant our gear wont walk away.

I have a bike cover but I don't know that that will help much and I have cable locks but the loops on the dry-bar are nylon. I ordered one of the wire mesh bags from Packsafe but the smallest one turned out to be way to big for my 25 liter dry-bag.

I am just looking for something to keep the opportunistic thief from walking away with something. Thanks for any help!

1. I'll admit upfront that I don't think much of the idea of leaving bike at a trailhead.

2. Bike cable lock around it a couple of times and cinched down really tight? (you have tilt sensitive alarm on the bike - right?)

3. Take your 50L Packsafe to place that splices cables, ask first as I'm sure those are tiny cables.

4. Pacsafe C25L ?

Don't worry about it so much.

Yeah, shit happens once in awhile but not as much as we are taught to believe.

Been riding and camping for 30 plus years and have only had one minor issue (someone took my $50.00 sleeping bag). And I leave everything unlocked or unsecured. Helmet on mirror and gear held down by bungee cords.

If you go to an event like MotoGP where the hoodlums target, play it safe. But out on the road in general, not much of a worry.

If you are really worried, get insurance and the worry goes away.

1. Me either but I want to travel on a motorcycle and I want to hike.
2. this is probably my current solution but testing has shown it to not be very hard to work loose. And I do have an alarm w/ proximity sensor (Scorpio SRi500) but the bike is big and heavy so it takes alot of movement to trigger it.
3. It is a continuous cable, I don't know if it would work?
4. I emailed packsafe to see what they recommend, still waiting for a reply.
