| snowshoe kitten... prrr... | why would the city of anacortes shut down a cash cow like the oyster run? is not like people are getting raped & killed during the event year after year which is likely what it would take for them to decide they don't want the income it generates... if you actually wanted to know why not ping someone on the city council or send email to the event organizers at info@oysterrun.org? |

| Railer | Rumor is: it will be the same ol' shit, different day. Probably another traffic jam, with a couple thousand bikes, similar quantity of overly-leathered costumers, many tents selling things like chinese-made fingerless gloves and dew-rags. I can't wait! Are those guys cool or what? They're all standing around like girls at a prom, sizing-up each other: "Dammit, I thought I'd be the only one wearing black leather this year!" I haven't heard anything regardless so I'm pretty sure it's not true. All my family and friends live there and I would have heard about it if that was true. So no worries! It's still on ![]() |

Okay, the run is a chance for us "Cruiser" guys and gal to get together before the weather goes back to rain mode. I time to reflect on the riding season with friends and share our ride stories. And, like Strugus, it's not about being at the rally, it's the ride there and the ride home, taking new roads and meeting new friends. I guess you sport bikers just don't get it, you would if you could ride your bike more then 200 mile at a time....without a massage, 8 hours of sleep and a bowl of Wheaties. |

That was enough. 8 miles of stop and go traffic just to get into town, bad music played loudly, overflowing port a potties, everyone selling the same cheap Chinese leather goods, and drunken bikers revving their engines to ear splitting decibels. Well, at least it kinda drowned out the 'music'. Even though I have a couple of 'cruiser style' bikes, its not my idea of a good time. |

And we sportbikers can and do ride for more than 200 miles at a time. But we don't feel the need to make a big production about it like the bagger guys as if it was some great life accomplishment. The point of riding isn't to stand around and talk about riding (unless you're on a Ducati at Starbucks... or at the Oyster Run it seems). I'll be out riding, but not up to Anacortes to get stuck in traffic with a bunch of loud ass Harleys and over-inflated egos. | |
