I've fallen asleep riding before. I've also fallen asleep while walking (it was actually marching in formation in boot camp). I caught myself as I was falling over and almost walked into a telephone pole. Put my arm out and pushed off of the pole and kept marching like nothing happened.

That's got to be a medical conditon there. I can see falling asleep riding as a passenger - my wife did this once - but never as a rider unless something is very wrong.
