New land speed record for S1000RR

been too long since I posted a BMW thread

almost 205mph on the salt with no internal engine mods...nuts.

Sills recorded a flying mile two-way average speed of 204.784mph, setting a new FIM record in the Partially Streamlined Naturally Aspirated 1000cc class.

Orr and his mechanics took the production bike and installed a BMW HP Race Powerkit, a LeoVince SBK exhaust pipe, and race body work. In the meantime, Brock’s Performance shipped Orr a suspension lowering kit.

They hold a Guinness World Record for the fastest speed on a motorcycle ridden by two people: 181.426mph, set on a 2011 BMW S1000RR, with Sills riding one way and then Hunter riding the return leg.

the 2 up one was a lil while ago, but still amazes me, over 180mph two up!

Pretty cool, pretty scary going that fast on that type of surface with two wheels. You can't accelerate too quickly or you just slide around.

is that two at the same time or one person went one way and the other on the return run....? i read it as one person one way and another the other way.

After having ridden an s1000rr for the first time about a month ago...I could almost be a BMW fanboi. It felt great to get back on my tiny nimble little R6 minutes later, but...I have found myself daydreaming about riding an s1000rr again sometime.

I rode the 1000 at the ridge.
Damn good bike.
I think with appropriate springs in nearly stock form it would make a "decent" race bike.
The engine is specially impressive, the over all package is very very good.

Caveat, the ubiquitous Suzuki is still the king for privateers...

BMW did an amazing job!!!

two at the same time, they just switched who was bitch between qualifying and the record run.

BMW S1000 RR reaching an average two-way speed of 181.426 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats where Andy was the rider for the qualification run (with Erin as the pillion passenger) and they switched for the record return run – with Erin as the rider and Andy as the pillion passenger
