People ride on the street for diffrent reasons. Some people like to go out for a Sunday ride and look at the scenery, others want to go out and get a bit of adrenaline running through thier bodies. Two totaly diffrent styles of riding. In my opinion riding on the street is just to damn dangerous to be pushng any limits even a little, but some people cant afford to go to the race track once a week to get their fix like I can so they are left with what they can get. Sometimes that leads to bad things, but hey some times we die doing what we love to do! Either way I should have known better then to post on here. |

| Pit Crew Joined: Aug 2007 From: Portland, OR I Ride: SV1000S in the faster copper color, and a hell of a lot slower than I used to. | Yeah, if I'm trying to go as fast as I safely can I'm gonna be on the binders into every corner. And hard on the throttle right after that slightly late apex. I tell folks they can tell when I'm going fast by whether they see my brake light. Thing is, it seems that OP isn't going any faster than the others who aren't using their brakes. That would throw me off too - when i see brake lights I'm thinking the next corner was exceptionally tight, a surprise decreasing radius, there is a road hazard or something. smonky could learn, by checking out THE PACE, that he can go at the same pace he's doing now but without braking allatime. Go do it, smonky. |

But it's full of street riders who don't have the luxury of spending time on the track but wreck themselves daily. But hey...you ride faster than everyone else so you can act like an asshat I guess. This forum reminds me of being back on the gradeschool playground. |

im not trying to sound like a smart ass.. but i remember you saying the opposite to me a few years ago ... something about using the breaks and then going round the corner was bad and how i was an idiot for doing so .and that you dont want to ride in a group or with me because of it ... ... .. and also using the breaks through the corner...( practicing a oh shit i need to stop moment in a corner) was stupid and retarded .... and yet here you are saying what i have been saying the whole time... like i said not trying to sound like a smart ass just pointing something out ... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by tims007; 09-10-2012 at 08:20 AM..

Trust me I have only been riding for 3 years now and when I first started riding I used this forum to find riders and rides. I bet I went home to get truck/trailer 15 or 20 times that first summer to help people out of the bushes. It didnt take long beofre I stopped using this place for anything other then the track section. I havent had a street bike in almost 2 years now, and actualy just borrowed a buddies bike to do a Coast Run Friday and Windy Ridge Saturday morning. After that I am probably good for another 2 years. Its frigen dangerous out there!

Not sure I remember the exact conversation, but I do remember you are one of the people I choose not to ride with because I can almost plan to scrape you up off the side of the road every time out. I remember showing up to a scheduled stop and having you brag about chicken strips and how many "OH SHIT" moments you had just had and the guys in front of you were traveling at a very mild pace. Either way I hope your riding has progressed since this time, we all have to start some where.

| Streetfighter Joined: Oct 2009 From: Vancouver USA I Ride: one speed............ | Aint that the truth! I I can say that my riding progresses every time I get on 2 wheels, weather it be my race bike, dirt bike, or even my cruiser! And the conversations we had were a long time ago, I have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours learning and now helping other people learn how to ride smarter on the race track which also leads to FASTER!!! |

| Licensed Joined: May 2010 From: Vancouver WA | im within my comfort level and feel that im using all the proper techniques. i dont quite understand all the links to 'the pace" as it doesnt really catch me as doing anything different. also i dont quite get how you can maintain one comfortable speed at all times as on the street all corners are different be it camber, pavement conditions, angles...perhaps im missing the point. i do however ride my own ride and have a damn fine time doing it. i wont lie, i have had a close call or two when i my concentration broke at the wrong time. but i learned from it, refocused and powered on. i appreciate the comments from everyone especially stringcheese who knows the roads im speaking of and Jason D seeing as he has a OMRRA # means alot. sounds like this is a semi hot topic, continue on! |
