I Ride: the Kessle run in 11 parsecs...
Its not like he had a new Ducati Tricolour or something nice... still, I'd never live with a person that told me what I could/couldn't have or do... My girlfriend hates bikes, and is not happy I have one... She realizes that its part of the life that she wants to be involved with so the bike stays until I decide otherwise, and if I do decide to part with it she knows its with the intention of getting a better one in the future...

I've read this somewhere and it rings true: For every hot girl there is at least one man that is tired of putting up with her bullshit.

People have different priorities in life. People do change hobbies from time to time. A good friend of mine was into playing music for years, had all kind of instruments and amps and crap. After he tried skydiving, he got hooked on that and it began to take up all his time, so he sold almost all his music stuff and now has all his own stuff and certifications for jumping. A little over a year ago he got into bikes, started with a neglected Superhawk, bought a new gsxr750, sold the super hawk within about 6 months. Then he picked up a Ducati 848evo, and a 250 trackbike (now traded in for an R6 trackbike). He may very well be hooked.

To the story in the op, if this was something that he was passionate about and she made him give it up, then she is just a bitch, and so is he. But maybe he just didn't care that much about riding, that doesn't make him a poser.
You make a good argument, although like mentioned I didn't. It's a passion that's in my DNA...AJ

I Ride: Whatever old bike isn't broken, 1977 XS-400D (broken), 1978 GS1000E, 1960 BSA C15 (missing pieces), 97 ZX600E ( It's a lover not a fighter)
Guess I'm lucky.. My wife showed me a CL add one day and said You should go buy this bike.. She didn't have to tell me twice

After I had hauled home my 6th bike she started getting a bit upset with me so I trimmed the herd on non runners down to 2 classics plus my Ninja for the ride to work.

Hopefully this is what really happened:
Guy gets paid to let Kaboom blow up his bike, buys new bike and tells biaotch to take a walk.

....otherwise he's in for world of hurt.

I Ride: Ninja 650 or somebody elses.
So is it safe to say the frame is now a salvage title?

That is the key, period.

For me it was hydroplanes instead of bikes, but the happiest day of my life up to that point was when the paper-server arrived at my boat shop.

Picked a better one about 25 years ago. She rides and owned more guns than I did when we met.

We still ride together, I've got too many bikes in the garage and the gun safe keeps getting fuller.

Sometimes (or often) the first choice is not as well thought out as the next one.

Yeah...anyone who thinks they should be able to dictate like that to someone they profess to "love" is either full of shit, full of themselves, selfish...or all of the above.

I once told Kevin if he wants to bring me any Valentines Day or Birthday present, it should either be some NOS Yamaha RD/RZ parts, machine tools, or basically anything that will help resurrect and keep all the vintage bikes running.
