Wow! everyone back up from the water cooler please, it's still a sofa no matter how you dress it up. Now as far as Rune rune goes. I'd have one if I could. there's just something about that one.

No not really. This is a sofa (or couch rocket) ...

This is an ass pounder ...

The other half looked at the FB6 and just laughed. Still if this is the way Honda is going ... it's their company. Clearly they are moving to a different, although crowded, market.

I've got mine ... I'm good. I am going to the mono-color down the road though.

I Ride: a cruzzer
The more I look at this the more I like it.

But then the bagger style appeals to Me.

All the cool stuff and a bitchin look.
The GW is such a sorted out bike too.
A solid alternate choice to all the V-twin bagger offerings.

I don't think it looks all that bad. I would have built on the Rune and left the GoldWing alone. Keep the dresser and have a stripped down model. These days, this may not be cost effective though. I'd rather have leather bags and less plastic ... on a bagger. That center stand is handy. Wonder how they remove the rear tire now?

Rune is a factory mod Valkerie....tough to base something on out of prod model.

GL1800 has SSA, prob still have to take off L side bag though.

They could always put it back into production. What with that state-of-the-art factory they have over there and all.

SSA?

SSA?
Would be a step backward for H - give up FI, better handling, shorter frame, WKWElse
Besides how is it lean mfg by starting up a whole new line + supply chain?

KevinD: Single-side swingarm

Thx Kevin

The Rune is Fuel Injected. Donno about the handling, never rode one. The front end on the Rune does look a bit complex. But I'm sure Honda could come up with something slick. Put the GoldWing front end on it, for example.

It is my understanding their new factory can be easily retooled(?) to manufacture anything they can program into it. In this case switch from the GoldWing to the Rune and back again with no real issues. That is if they had an up-to-date plan/concept. Production on demand, if you will. I suppose it depends if they want to find a new market, or take a byte out an existing market. Looks like they are going after the latter ... safer that way, I guess.

good to know those buyers got something for the price besides the Look.
That's what I'd want to do if I were Honda shut down a line twice + source an entirely different set of parts. :sarcasm:
That Rune that everyone likes so much...why didn't they go out and buy one?
even now u see them FS occasionally.

I'd guess bad marketing? IMO, the Rune is more of a Hot Rod than a Zoom-Splat. Hot Rods have about the same size market as the GoldWing. I actually had that choice. If it wasn't for the other half I would have. But the Rune isn't for passengers. Neither is the FB6, from the looks of it. The dealer, here, has a Rune he'll sell. This would be my next choice. But, like I said, I'm good with what I got. Very pleased.

I'm actually a little surprised that Honda hasn't gone this direction before now.
