1979 GS550E Cafe Racer
Had this thing on Craigslist for a while now, if things go as planned I should be coming home with my new 2011 C50T tomorrow, don't want 2 bikes to maintain, as well as a car and drag car, hah

Selling my cafe racer-inspired Suzuki project, looking to upgrade to a larger motorcycle.

I've done a lot of work on it recently, basically ready to ride. The numbers on the side covers will peel off if you don't like them.

New:
Tires/tubes, balanced
Rebuilt front/rear calipers
EBC pads front/rear
Rebuilt rear master cylinder with genuine Suzuki parts
7" Chrome headlight (metal bucket not plastic)
DDM Tuning 35w HID kit installed
Chrome bullet turn signals front and rear
Modified stock seat pan with new cover, firm foam
Superbike handlebars
Bar-end mirrors
Gel grips
Tach cable
Speedo cable
Drive chain
K&N Air cleaners
Suzuki intake boots and o-rings
Suzuki front wheel bearings
Left side cover (new, not used)
Rear shocks
Battery
Suzuki valve cover gasket (not yet installed)
Carburetor o-ring kit (not yet installed)
500 miles on oil change (comes with extra K&N oil filter kit, new)
Spark plugs (comes with extra set of NGK Iridium plugs, new)
Fuel line
LED lit license plate frame

Things that should be addressed in the near future:
Valve cover gasket leaks (have brand new genuine Suzuki gaskets, VC, half moons, and breather, not installed)
Valves might need adjusted, haven't had time to check
Carbs should be pulled apart and soaked and have o-rings installed. It's cold blooded (have the o-ring kit and some extra main jets).
Carbs have 97.5 Mikuni main jets installed right now due to air cleaner change, could possibly use a larger pilot jet and sync
Have some parts on order, new clutch cable and all the proper washers for the rear shocks.

Runs great, drives great, seems to pull mid 40's for MPG. Seat will feel very firm when you sit on it but for a long ride it's really comfortable. All lights work, all dash lights work. Just could use a little more tinkering to be in good shape! It's not a show bike and 33 years old, keep that in mind. Could use some work as far aesthetics go still, paint and polish here and there. Clean title in hand and in my name, reliable and ready to ride basically.

Looking for $1700 or best offer.

Well, no longer for sale. Pro Caliber lost a customer today due to their incapability to communicate, so no new bike and I guess I'll keep riding this thing. But thanks for the compliment!

I just get sick of dealing with tards like this, I live an hour from that dealership and went there 3 times, once to apply, yesterday to pick it up only to be told I need a co-singer (got that squared away), and back again today to get it only to be told I didn't qualify for the interest rate they said I would get, 6 hours of driving into this... My old man was with me and was going to buy a '12 Busa, they did the same thing to him, needless to say he came home without a bike too. Pro Caliber in Longview, NEVER stepping foot in that building again.

Thats an old trick, they get a portion of that interest, after a long drive they hope you just take the deal and they get more out of you.

If anyone here wants it I guess I'll still let it go, I really need a bigger bike regardless of buying something new or not.

And yeah, we learned the hard way on that trick I guess. Though they pissed us off and lost customers, guess it didn't work too well in their favor...

Bump to the top

Went through the carbs again, installed new o-rings, next size larger main jets (has #100's now). Runs great, still needs the carbs synced to dial it in, needles might need to be raised one more notch. Been commuting to work with it, also have an RK chain for it, and new stock-size front/rear sprockets on the way from Z1, should be here Monday.

That sucks you had issues. I bought my FZ6 from them and didn't have an issue at all and was happy with the whole process. Free bump!

That bike is way cooler than that new cruiser IMHO. Wait till you can't walk to buy a cruiser or you hit 60 or something.

The GS is far cooler. Reminds me of a stock RD350 w/ those pipes and a custom seat. <--bitchin'. It has my stamp of approval.

There's plenty of time when you are old to ride a cruiser.

or save some money and ride your pops BUSA when he's not home! <--that's the ticket.

Actually he bought a '12 ZX14 yesterday, which I rode, and soon after messed my pants when I ripped on in in 2nd on a back-road. Too much for me!
