This is for a period specific "restification" on a bike that is fast approaching the 30 year "classic" definition according to the state, which will allow me to register it for life as such using said period correct plate.

What I'm looking for is the last iteration of the green letters on white background plate, first introduced with new dies in 1985 and issued through 1987 (when it was replaced by the RWB/Mount Rainier "Centennial Celebration" plate. These were commonly found on bikes registered between 1985 and with tabs renewed up to 2000 when the new "7 year replacement" law went into effect. I would prefer a plate issued new in 1986, but any plate from '85-'87 would work.

Examples:

The following are examples of plates I DON'T want. Note the difference in the dies used in the plates shown above and the following plates issued pre-1984. (The numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 are most obvious, and the 1 is sans-serif):

1984 Plate-

Again, these last three would be plates I don't want. Simplification: If your plate has a one with a "base", a two with a "broken neck", or a symmetrical 3 or 8, its what I'm looking for!

I'm sure someone on the form has one or two hanging around their garage! Sell it to me! Sell me your useless old bike plate! Free is good too, if you're feeling generous...

Is this what you're looking for?

I've saved plates from nearly every bike I've owned, especially, as like this one, they have sentimental value for some specific reason. You can have it (for a fair price), but you'll need to convince me that this restoration is going to happen, and isn't just a pipe dream. Like, you're close to finishing, not just starting out on a many-year project...?

And I'm notoriously difficult to get ahold of- PM me, but be patient. I don't check these forums every day.

Yeah, well...they aren't in the system anymore really. They're part of a collection somewhere. Anyone trying to use these would be an instant LEO target just because of the colors anyway.

Bummer. Yeah, they seem really common until you look more closely.

At least I'm not looking for a "Centenial Celebration" plate...they only made them for about 2 or 3 years before they ditched the script on the bottom and made them look similar to the current plates, but with a centered "Washington" and a blue border around them.

If you didn't know any better, you would have thought WA state MC plates had only changed twice since 1978...but its actually been FIVE changes!
