It is a bit of a project but that is nothing new to me, I actually prefer it that way because there is no better way to get to know your vehicle than to get down and dirty with it. I have been around many forums...(just google "phlebmaster" to see) and have always had projects of one type or another. This new project however is something special. I have been looking forward to purchasing a motorcycle for many years, but made the decision to wait for my daughters to graduate high school....well, they finally did.... so I went and took the Team Oregon course and got my endorsement in June. Since then I have repaired an 81 KZ650 CSR for my brother who has agreed to let me ride it from time to time. My first ride was incredible! I was hooked! I always make videos of my projects, if you want to see some of my past projects you can find them on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/phlebmaster1 About the bike; it is a 1976 Kawasaki KZ400 D3 with the engine code of K4E059798. I am not very familiar with bike engine designations or codes, but I know that is important with automotive projects that I have worked on. I got her on a good deal from a friend who did not have the time to ride her so she sat for about a year. She only has about 20,000 miles and is relatively clean. I pulled the tank, carbs, cables, and cleaned them up the best I could. After a new battery and some fresh fuel she started right up as she did before being parked. Oh, and the chain and rear sprocket are shot so that will need done before I ride her. I am also an avid home-brewer and love to make unique beers, ciders, etc... Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope to contribute as I learn from everyone here. I will post pics as soon as I can. Thank you, Aaron Last edited by Phlebmaster; 01-30-2012 at 05:13 PM.. |
