I've tried: it ain't any fun unless you've got chains, or very aggressive studded tires. It's just too darn easy to spin the rear tires with all the available power. Now, if you're willing to throw a few hundred pounds in the trunk, and spend a few hundred dollars on snow tires & chains, it'll certainly help, once you learn how to drive it properly in the snow.
