| Streetfighter Joined: Aug 2006 From: Tacoma Wa. I Ride: 2010 ZX10R | I don't have many pics of the day and I'm late getting them up [IMG] [/IMG]Of course Jason's favorite stop...this one is for you since you could'nt be with us.[IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] ![]() Yummy food and great service at the country House in Toledo [/IMG] [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] Great to finally meet you Sarah......you notice there are still no pics of me ![]() No more pictures of the rest of the ride.......I had'nt posted yet because I was having a rough time shaking the sad off of me.I'm a partner,a mom, and a rider....it is hard to separate them at times. To watch someone crash right in front of you that has been intrusted in your care....there is quite simply no way I can possibly explain. Karie was doing great all day. There were a couple minor glitches, but nothing big or scary, she was just getting used to a bigger bike.I was a little concerned at lunch because she looked a bit tired,as this was her first big,and group ride. She said that she was fine and wanted to continue.I don't know what happened,I think she just lost her line for a split second, but unfortunatly that's all it takes.Watching it happen was in slow motion. You watch in horror knowing you can't stop it or do anything, what a hopeless feeling.I had wished it was like the old westerns ....where you can ride up on your trusty steed and grab the damsel in destress off the saddle....that's the movies. I am so very happy that she is okay.To everyone who helped....a huge thank you.George is my hero,he saved the day.He is a highly trained emergency nurse (I don't know your official title),good lord he looked and sounded like a doctor to me.We were blessed to have him there.Thank you to all of the guys that stayed with me after I told you to go home and beat the storm......I know you were waiting for me to have to pee outside ,so you could take yet another famous pee picture. And of course a huge thank you to Jackie and Mardi for dropping everything to come help fellow riders, without hesitation. Please be safe out there everyone,Denise Last edited by Squirrel; 04-16-2008 at 10:13 AM.. |

| Shredder Joined: Dec 2005 From: nowhere, wa | First things first: Here's to a speedy and complete recovery for you Karie. I am so glad to know that your injuries were not life-threatening. I was also very happy to be in a position to help out. After I had my Katana incident in Tacoma last spring, there were several PNWriders that helped me get myself back together. The way I figure it, I was simply giving back to this community that so freely gave to me when I needed help. It always makes me sad to hear a rider say that she/he is going to "hang up my helmet for good" but I also realize (and respect) that not everyone gets the same ratio of rewards-vs-risk out of this sport. I have had the opportunity (more than once) to spend time reflecting over my own personal "risk management" decisions while my broken bones were mending. I cannot imagine ever being in a state-of-mind where I would want to give up riding... maybe my mom is right, maybe there *is* something wrong with me (us?) but I find that the joy and adventure that motorcycling brings into my life far exceeds the pain and expense that my various "incidents" over the years have brought me. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without motorcycles in it. Non-motorcyclists (for the most part) think we are all crazy for the risks we take, and maybe they are right, but like I tell my mom, they don't bury bikers any deeper than they bury cagers when they are killed on the highway. I hope I get a chance to ride with you one day, Karie. I also hope that I don't have to haul any more crashed bikes with my van. I hope like h**l that I don't find myself waking up in an ambulance again - ever. ...but mostly I hope to see lots more ride-photos and hear lots more ride-stories. |

| Peg Dragger Joined: Feb 2006 From: Puyallup Wa I Ride: 2007 GSXR750 | We Spent yesterday at the ortho surgeon. The surgery is scheduled for Friday morning (they wanted to wait for the swelling to go down) She broke her thumb 1 finger, arm and shattered the bones between her wrist and thumb. 2 of her fingers are "jammed" back into her hand. It looks like she tried to reach out to the barrier and smashed it on impact. Between know and Friday she is staying drugged up and bored out of her mind. I'm now playing Mr Mom, I want my regular job back. This homemaker thing is hard work lol. Today I went to check out the bike. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just a quick look online looks to be $1500-$2000 in parts. I haven't decided if I'm going to turn it in to the insurance or just suck it up. Whatever I do I think I'm going to be selling it when done or take the loss and sell it as is.. If She rides again I think I'll make her stick to the 250 for awhile longer. Thanks to Squirrel for storing it, I promise I will rent a trailer and get it this weekend. Again I owe and thank so many of you for what you've done. PNW Riders is the best!! I will update again Friday when surgery is done. Thanks |

I've got a Dakota quad cab so the bed is a little short, but I'm sure we could get a bike in it. Just need a little help pulling the shell off first. My neighbor has a ramp I can use, as well. I'm free on Saturday. |

| jimd2p aka Dweezlebutt | I was surprised the bike faired as well as it did. Very little to repair to make it rideable. If my painter was still working for me, I would offer to fix the fairings and paint it for you. That fairing is completely fixable. Fortunately where the frame slider snapped off, there is enough bolt still sticking out that you should be able to get it with some pliers. Let me know if you need any help! |

| Shredder Joined: May 2007 From: Lacey, WA | Wow, she sounds a bit beat up. Hope she heals up quickly. as for the bike...from the pics it just looked like some scraped body work and a broken rear set. Was there more? Were you wanting to replace all scraped body work? Just seemed that the price you figured was a bit high. ps I think a mc or super small trailer from u-haul is next to nothing (of course someone elses rig is also next to nothing |
