Damn, I sure miss my KX-80 when I read a thread like this...hell, I miss riding entirely, I haven't ridden at ALL since the end of May. Had an operation 7/15 for severe arthritis @ the base of my R thumb. Just got he pins out & cast removed Thursday and hope to resume riding by the first or second week of October.

I've thought off & on about getting another KX, maybe a 100. I don't like the overly tall modern bikes so it's the perfect size with pretty amazing power. But I went a little crazy(er?) last week and bought 2 more old 2 stroke street bikes, so the KX is out for now. Maybe next summer when I'm strong enough to grip it good. Dirt riding is SO fun. I used to ride anything in the dirt, like a step-thru Suzuki 50 with skinny universal tread tires, yep, this same bike, my Grandma and I on it. Talk about sliding around, NO traction at all:

I'm getting excited! This will be fun! w00t!

I know the location and time still needs to be determined. There are 3 possibilities...Belfair, Capital Forest or this dirt area in Tacoma off of 56th. I've ridden the one off 56th and it has lots of rocks, big potholes, a makeshift "motocross" track and such so it's pretty rough - but HELLAFUN and close which may work best for ladies who want to just try dirt riding and not make a huge time commitment out of it. Belfair and Capital Forest are nicer but farther away.

Any preference?

tooled around some forest roads and a bit of trails on the new bike today, but i definitely want to get out onto the real stuff stat!

Trust me cali riding is only fun for about a week, it's only so excited to go in a straight line on the 405 or I5 or the 55 or the 91 or the 215 or everything else down there that's strictly a freeway.

California is more of a hey we got nice weather and nice bikes we don't know how to ride so lets go to starbucks kinda place.

Not sure of what part you were in Chris but there are plenty of fun and amazing roads in CA. Plus there is plenty of offroad places to go to as well....granted you have to pack up and drive a few hours to get to them but it's worth it.....

----------------------------------------------

Now back on topic

Looking forward to this ride..........

Debi,
I'm going to be in Palmdale for a couple of months then most likely moving to the Burbank area. My husband is from California and knows of a lot of places to ride dirt (although they are nothing like the dirt trails here) and some amazing twisties too! So, no Starbucks riding for me...OK, maybe a few trips to Starbucks.

Pen Pen,
Sorry, I can't make it on Sunday - and it's gonna be dirt ridin'

latest weather forcast Saturday...heavy rain all day :(
Not looking good for the dirty girl outing. I'm out unless there is a huge change in the weather. The dirt pit will be to dangerous to ride and I don't want anyone getting hurt. Sorry ladies... :(

..... I agree...don't want anyone getting hurt ..... we might have to reschedule this for another time

If your moving to Burbank you will be somewhat close to the Snake(Mulhulland drive) and you will really like that then there is Gorman (dirt)which is just up the road and if your in Palmdale you are just across from Stoddardwells and also Competitive Edge and Raceway 395 so you will have ample riding areas but not the crazy single track like here unless you go up near Big Bear

The weather looks bad for the next 10 days

Debi,
I'll definately be checking out those areas! And agreed, they won't be like the single track we have here but I may have to check out Big Bear.

I'm hoping we can reschedule Dirty Girls ride before I leave! Stupid weather...
