The point of group rides is safety, and enjoyment of the activities with others, in that order (at least i thought), keep an eye on the guy behind you, if thats too much to ask, by all means go your own way, for my own safety I hope you do....

I went and spent some time there today.. he said the nurses smell funny (wear bad cologne) and the food sucks... but his dad was really happy to see him eating anything at all today. I didn't see him yesterday, but I hear today is a huge improvement. They are going to try and get him walking tomorrow, and trying to get him to a quieter room, for the sake of sleep.
As for going home.. cross your fingers for Monday!
He learned his lesson and wants others to learn from it as well. He wont be riding for another "20 years", but he will be zipping around town on his dads 67 Chevelle.

I wish him a speedy recovery. If you all are going over there get a hot chick for him. I just hope he can get back on the seat after this. Remember when on the seat, twisting that throttle "The only rider you really need to keep up with is your self".

First of all, Marshal, I've never met you or the riders up north of Corvallis, but heal up quick and strong bud! It's never good when a rider goes down.

I was a volunteer firefighter at a more rural dept. for almost 5 years, and as as for the video by the fire personel, the only thing that might be an issue is privacy laws. We all have to follow HIPAA regulations in regards to privacy and confidentiality of peoples information. I know with our department we couldn't post videos, talk about details, etc.... our fire department policy forbid it. It's not that they want to keep us silent about things, it's just out of respect and consideration for the victim of the accident.

I agree that training videos are a good idea for the personnel, but YouTube...that's world wide public domain. So...I don't think the fire personnel should be crucified over it as I'm sure they did a great job of responding and helping Marshal, but I don't think it was the best taste to post the video.

Marshall, I am not sure if I met you or not, but this really sucks and I hope you heal up quick.

Of course, if you need anything don't hesitate to ask.

Hey everyone. Just left the hospital. Marshall is doing a lot better. Got to actually talk to him. Got some good smiles and jokes out of him so that was good. They're hoping to be back home by end of this weekend. He's healing real quick. They got him into a quieter room now too so he can rest better.

They also have his computer there an have been reading the forum and think it's great about all the comments and everything. His dad says that's it's not that they video taped the event but that they posted it online. That's all. All in all everything is going good though.

Marshal when you get better and you are up to it, I think we need to know what happened. I hear some say you rode over your head. well sometimes just being uot there is OK TILL a set of circumstaqnces occurs and then you gert overwhelmed , like accidentally fixating and bang you are into it. so even if you think you where ovwr your head, you may have been fine and then you got bit. So think about it for a bit when you are not on your happy juice.. Lets get your story out and learn something about your adventure. IN THE MEANTIME remember drugs good, pain bad!

I won't waste my time with three pages of what I assume is bashing.....thank you PNW - I'm sure you've all wasted your time and efforts on 'your take' on the scenario.

All I know is a fellow rider is hurt...I'll keep that as my main topic.

I wish the rider a fast and healthy recovery. Wishing you the best and that your back up and 'running' again - soon.
