I dont do workout partners because they typically get hurt trying to keep up.... but I am willing to help you or anyone get online with a reasonable and maintainable program. |

Im also thinking after rides, go work out and then hit the sauna and hot tub |

I'm in the gym 4 times a week (Clackamas 24hr), have developed a pretty good routine which includes stretches, weights, and cardio and am always up for a partner since it's easier to keep it going that way. TimothyElkins on the board meets me down there once or twice a week. Good luck, Rob! I've gotten in fantastic shape over the last 5 months with improved diet & consistent excercise. I have defineable abs now and no belly... who'd have thought ![]() Last edited by Spec; 09-17-2009 at 04:06 PM.. |

As soon as I get in I head to the mat and spend about 15 minutes there. I throw in pushups and planks to help my core. Definitely helps avoid soreness from weight training. |

Thinking of taking up Yoga or something, I just feel so whats the word "ill use lame" stretching in front of people. I think I will start to do my stretches at home before I go in though, I have some Yoga vid's.Last edited by ulfur; 09-17-2009 at 07:24 PM.. |

One of the UPS guys that delivers to my work brought up the sweets issue its damn tough but cutting out as much processed sugar helps a great deal. Besides diet just try to be active. |

Having just moved to the area, I'm looking for a gym...any recommendations? I see there are members here from at least 5 different ones. A more appropriate question might be which ones should I avoid? I live just west of Hillsboro. Er....around the Tanasbourne area? Or at least have quick access to it. Still trying to figure it out exactly.... |

You may also want to check out bally's. It's more of an "average joes" gym, that's where I'm at 4+ days a week |

| Mr. 500,000 ![]() Joined: Dec 2006 From: Portland I Ride: VTX | ![]() anyone else is more than welcome. I typically setup a stretch - lift - sweat type routine using simple motions, circuit training, and as much outdoor cardio as possible. I frown on running for most (because most are so out of shape they tear themselves up), and stay to biking, walking, maybe some olyptical. |

I have all the gear at home, I just need my physical problems to quit, so I can get back to my schedule. I also need to get more aggressive about eating healthy food. I hate to run, but I love the bicycles. |

Save the 20-40 bucks a month for tires and trackdays. ![]() |

Sugar = Bread, Pasta, Rice, Potatoes, Pies, Cakes, Candy, Cookies, Crackers, Soda Pop... Eliminating anything made from flour and sweets from your diet and adding the right exercise and your blood chemistries will normalize fairly quickly. Make sure you stay in an aerobic range with your cardio....very important. Get a heart rate monitor or use a machine that keeps track of your heart-rate. Good luck with your workout program. Sounds like you're on the right track. | |
