With my criminal background (lets call it "rebellious" behavior when i was a teen) its really f'ing hard to get a job and even harder to just get the interview. Well I got a call back today, first one in 8 months (and yes i apply atleast 10-15 places a week, not including craigslist email resumes... Its nothing big but after being out of the work force for so long i will take anything to help the wife with the bills. Most of you will probably think this is stupid to make a thread about but its a big thing for me considering i literally havent been interviewed in close to a year with over 300 applications turned in. I have a list of all places i apply so i remember if i get called back and its 40 pages long.... As for everyone who has helped me here and there while me and my wife struggled to get my bike fixed, THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart I value your friendships and am humbled by your generosity. Wish me luck, I need it! |

Here's to someone hiring you fast! I think if they get to know you, they will realize that you are grateful for the oppty. and just stop looking. What's really important, is to be there on time and be willing to work overtime (if you never call in sick..EOTM!!! ). More important than being the smartest on the job in some places i would think (that's reassuring for someone like me). Any employer with 1/2 a brain cell would love someone like that...sadly, that ain't me....hahaha (just kidding my future bosses). See my sig. I think Woody Allen got it figured out. Someone's bound to give you a chance. sending the good vibes your way... |

Secondly, I used to be in the employment profession working specifically with people who did some pretty bad stuff (some of which are working now). Crim background can be a barrier but hang in there, you'll find something. Also, depending on what it was and how far back it is you MAY be able to have it expunged. There are a few good places out there that don't do background checks or ask. PM me and I'll tell you. |

I am an employer. Attitude is everything. The willingness to learn something new every day is huge. The ability to try harder. The willingness to find a better way to do something. You just need to find a way to let the company know that lerson is you. |

| Zone Head Joined: Jul 2008 From: beaverton, or I Ride: like a cholo | First off, thank you everyone for your support! it is much appreciated and I believe the good vibes helped. I think i did great, not too sure though since the interview only lasted a whole 2 minutes, literally... The guy seemed to like me and he said i was the most qualified person he has interviewed yet. I guess thats because I thought i was applying for a management position and they dont have any of those open so i get to start at the bottom, no problem! I have many years experience in management level positions so i should move up fast. He said he will let me know by sunday for sure if i have the position or not and if not he thinks another position is opening soon so he will keep my app. I cant wait! I think the bike is treating me! I got her all stitched up and no more oil leak and took her for a nice 150 mile ride yesterday and then when i got back i had a voicemail for the interview! She likes long rides i guess... lol Thanks again for all the support and keep sending the vibes, hopefully i get the job! Oh and most of my charges were in another state and non expungable, I moved here to try to start over back in 2001 and had a rough start and got a few more charges but no felonies and then finally got clean and had a great job but the economy killed that position 2 years ago and that lead to the predicament im in now. |

In my case I had to wait 3 years and than ask for expungement. Your DA office should have the forms, fill them out and do background check with State Police. Take it in with the fee and wait for the response in the mail. It took me about a month to finish the process. Remember that not everything is expungeble. Lets just say that I needed anger managment but I learned to stay away from basterds instead ![]() | |
