Moto tire repair?
Patched many a tube over the years.

Picked up 1/2 a staple in my tubless tire the other day. Is it OK to plug it like an automotive tire or are patches best?

did it go all the way through? what you should do is get an inside patch.

Go for the inside patch(I stand by them). Only bad part is you have to take the tire off the rim.

A plug patch is only a temp patch to get you to where you need to get to. The correct way to do the patch is a radial patch (inside patch) if the tire is really new or low mileage & allot left I would do it but a rear only. If it's worn more than 30% or so I'd just buy a new/new-used tire. just my 2 cents

Thx guys.

My inquiry was a bit of an afterthought to be truthful. Upon locating the leak in the rear tire, I reamed it out and stuffed a plug in it with some glue. In hind sight I started to think about the differences between auto and moto tire construction. Anyway, it held up fine for 750 miles this weekend.

Next time, I'll have it patched.
