Busting a lil Klickitat 10/4, all welcome
hey y'all -
I know lots of you guys don't know me - but wanted to throw this out there ...
I'm in need of a decent ride & going up the Klickitat way tomorrow, Sunday 10.04.09, all welcome to join.

The way I go is; out 84, over Bridge of the Gods, do the loop, then hit this sweet road up a canyon (sorry, no name, but trust me, it's sweet), left on 14, coffee/lunch whatever in the Dalles, Mosier/Rowena on the way home

Medium to quick place, minimal stopping, no cops, drama or crashes.
Leave time 10am at Peet's coffee (I HATE supporting Starpukes)
14 & NE Broadway. Coffee & BS at 930.
That's my plan, sorry for the short notice, hope some peeps join in.
Call, txt if you wanna

A decent diversion from I-84 is Herman Creek Rd. Catch it at Cascade Locks and it puts you back on the slab at mp 52. Pavement isn't perfect but there's no traffic. Cross at Hood River and avoid some of the revenuers of Scamania county.

Cool! Sounds like I can do it, might be a marathon day but I need a good workout. Unless the rain gets too bad I'll see you in the morning!

Would love to but can't do it tomorrow. Have fun!
I think there is a similar ride from Vancouver tomorrow, might want to check it out.
I fixed the title too.

OK John, I'm headed out. I have T-Mobile, not sure that I'll have reception in the Gorge. Your BMW should be relativley easy to spot, I'll be riding my black Buell 1125R, black leathers and helmet.

See ya about 11:00!

What a great ride! Southbound was fairly clilly, temps running in the mid 40's, but when in the foggy spots it really crept through the layers. I needed one stop just to warm up. The road between Randle and Carson was mostly wet, although I didn't see any rain all day.

Thanks a lot, John, for introducing me to a great, new (to me, at least) riding area. Excellent road conditions, the slight dampness and pine needles didn't cause any problems. Excellent pace, good job as tour guide!

There were still quite a few damp spots between Carson and Randle on the way back, I guess it just didn't get warm enough to dry off. I was back home just after 7:30, 487 miles for the day (it sure felt like 500! ).

I only got one picture, southbound at the vista point with Mt Adams covered in fresh snow. I just need to get it out of the camera.

A point and shoot camera doesn't do it justice.

Great ride, thanks again!

sweet - 487!! that's great - and glad you made it home in one piece & not too late, dark shield and all. Really god riding with you - next time you get to lead some!! Would love to connect with you again, although it may be on a spring ride, uh?

Nice pic there -- we shouldda shot one of Mt Adams when we were headed north - but the riding was so nice (when isn't it??) that I didn't feel motivated to stop. The dusting of fresh snow on the slopes & the soft light looked great - the snow is coming for real ....

take care, steve, & thanks again.

Very cool, thank you! I was going to see if I could draw it out from memory and then ask if I got it right.

That was my longest day so far on the Buell, and I was sill in fairly good condition when I got home. I sure did sleep well last night, though.

I hate the thought of needing to wait till spring to plan rides, so I'll just say "Let's plan another ride sometime!"
