Ps. Welcome to the forum and you will love the 636. I got mine earlier in the year and love it, but hate the paint job.

I would say you'd find your best deals combing through nice housing developments at 2AM finding the ones that forgot to shut their garage door and have motorcycles.. Just a thought.

There's a auto parts store behind Pro Caliber Vancouver next to SR500, that has a bunch of Amsoil products. Can't think of the name. Cost plus or something like that.

Or EDR if it's closer. Maybe Vicious Cycle will carry it (i've seen motul there, but no amsoil).

I usually just go to a dealer to pick up the oil filters, then Wal-Mart for some Shell Rotella-T.

for EDR, or for supporting any local good shop. One thing I love about buying incidental things at EDR... I don't have to wait on hold for 5 minutes before I get to ask a question when I call.

Shipping a gallon of oil is going to eat most or all of the savings, so mail-order is probably not the ideal route.

Hey - spend your money where you see fit...but, Eric (EDR) knows more about bikes/motors and oil then you ever will. Also, Eric/EDR does more for the motorcycle community in the NW (especially the sportbike crowd) then most shops and do and doesn't deserve to be passed off as some troll, pimping his business on the net.

As far as I know Eric does all (or most) of the Dyno-tuning and actual engine building. His crew does maintainence, repairs, tear down, prep etc.

I do know Eric personally tuned my GSXR on the dyno

Really vfrkid?? How the heck u know what I do/don't do? I never go home with clean hands bro. Since 1995 I've built over 500 race engines and not one has anyone but me touched. I do 99% of all the dyno tuning as well as try to run the shop, pay the bills, do the ordering, answer online tech/general questions.

Dude I worked by myself for the first 4 years even. Just because we've been blessed with awesome growth and success over the years don't mean I don't do any of the work, u clearly don't know anything about me or EDR so please don't comment on either.

Hell even on my wedding/honeymoon I'm online trying to offer up help like I did to the guy that just asked "where/who stocks parts in Portland"

Beans WTF??? My post gets removed and I get an infraction!!

Yet "someone" can post up "Cycle gear" or "Cardenass" even thou that's the same fxxxing thing I posted??

Then niceguy525 who doesn't work for EDR post up about same thing I dud and it gets removed?? WHAT THD FXXX DUDE!!

A guy asked WHERE TO BUY PARTS, since I won't pay you $2,000 a year (last quote I got) my shop doesn't get mentioned but u allow others to promote ANYONE/ANYSHOP THEY WANT????

So I guess I too like them, should make alias, new account and then it's ok to post up.

Makes NO sense man.

Good question...

I tried for over a year with Beans, both us playing pm tag

then this year I got THREE DIFFERENT QUOTES, last one was$2,000. TWO GRAND for a forum from a small 4-5 person shop, not a 40+ multi million/bike dealership!

I gave up after last guy grilled me more questions about my business than even the IRS does!

Bikes/forums should be fun!

A guy asked where to buy parts, if I had/asked someone to post up that's ok but if an alias "Ed who" does it's not ok.

This sites mods really confuse me and a lot of others

I WOULD sponsor but not at some ridiculous amount. Sorry

Just to set things straight, a sponsor request was sent in and Jafar responded within 24 hours (not to say that you and Beans hadn't played PM tag in the past). The price quoted was not $2,000.

As to the posts removed, they were removed in accordance with our rules page regarding advertising. Any infractions given were as a result of that and that alone.

I agree that bike shops and forums should be fun, but much as your shop needs revenue to stay open so too does this forum. Your revenue comes from sales to customers, ours comes from forum sponsors. As a result, only forum sponsors can advertise.

*Directed at Ed Who, you will notice that others in this thread have mentioned your shop and that those posts still remain in this thread, that's because those posts don't include advertising. The posts removed in this thread that did concern your shop were advertising.

*Directed at everyone, creating an alternate account is an instant perma-ban to both the alternate and the primary account.

My post supporting EDR's services was also removed. Dont think I was advertising since I dont even work for them...

Just pointing out some inconsistencies...

Putting aside the fact that you coppied and pasted his post and changed I think 3 words, it was still advertising. You gave a comprehensive list of the services and goods offered and a telephone number for the store. Had you just said something to the effect of, "I've been to EDR for an oil change and loved their work." it wouldn't have been advertising (much like the other people who have mentioned EDR in this thread.)

Hope that helps to explain why your post was removed.

Guff,

Thank you for keeping explanations out in the open. I may not completely agree with the rules around here, but its not my site and I dont have to participate if I dont want to.

Im glad at least someone is willing to explain issues in the open for all to see the reasons, instead of going behind the scenes and letting rumors, assumptions and misunderstandings fly around. IMO that how moderators should behave. I believe in transparency.

Nicegy525,

Glad to be helpful. I realize that things aren't always as transparent as we would all like for them to be, but please don't think that it is intentional.

Often times the moderators are swamped with keeping the chaos around this place to a minimum, so can fall a little short on the explanation factor. If you or anyone else feels things weren't explained clearly by a staff member, just ask for a little clarification. 9.987654321 times out of 10 someone will be more than happy to answer your question, and if it goes unanswered shoot me a PM.
