Rock on, I'll be there for uhmmm yeah... for 'PR reasons', on Friday, and serving/selling wine on Saturday for the winery.

I might be out for this Thursday night's meet, it's b-day week for my daughters Feb 3rd and 4th (YES, their b-days are a day apart!). So I'm on standby, maybe late, dunno yet.

Smart-ass, wait, I resemble that!

They are turning 12yo (Haley - 4th) and 15yo (Ashley - 3rd).

I turn 29 *again* in April.

Slingshot is a lounge so unless you have some creative ways that would be a no.

Aside from the age requirements this is a open event and all are welcome.

Only if he's got fake ID ya' moron!

I don't know if they allow minors inside, never thought to look at the signage. But that would deviate from our original plan as the 'alternative' Bike Night, whether you drink alcohol or not, we have to abide by the rules (allegedly) of the established location.

i will say this most of us have a dont ask dont tell policy if someone wants to show up its on them. so far they only id if you want a drink. im 23 so its not an issue with me. im not necessarily condoning going into a 21 and older establishment but if you do and you scoot by with just hangin out and not drinking im cool with that and have no issues with it. and im sure others wouldnt either the worst that would happen is they would say leave or you cant come in here. as long as your not drinking of course.

If someone in our group is underage that would make us all look bad. This would be a fast way of ending our bike night.

This is also true. Good point. All im saying is that if they take the chance to come in its all on them to take that chance and that im not gonna tell them no they cant but im also not gonna say let him stay. Just my opinion. But thank you for stating that also 8. The underage person should also think about that when they are trying to come in and take that chance. And im not trying to start an uproar here. just kinda saying what i think. We were all underage once and waned to get into 21 and up places to hang with older buds and all so we all know how it feels to be left out. JMHO

This is true, we have a pretty good rep with them, and they do know who we are. And I was hoping to talk with them about extending the happy hour food and pricing an extra hour for us.

I don't know how familiar you guys are w/ the OLCC, but they are a modern day gestapo whose wrath is greatly feared by anyone carrying a liquor license. I highly doubt anyone at Slingshot would even consider consenting to any kind of "don't ask, don't tell" agreement for allowing under-age people in because they will bear 100% of the consequences, even if they serve them no alcohol. OLCC frequently does "stings" on bars where they hire high school kids to try and get into a no-minors establishment, then slap the bar with a huge fine and a threat of suspension of their liquor license. I'm sure they do other kinds of "undercover" jobs. The whole thing may not seem like a big deal on the face of it, but the OLCC makes it a big deal. Most places exercise a zero-tolerance policy on under-age admittance just to keep OLCC out of their hair.

I say we look for another place if we have underage people coming. Sucks, I know, but there isn't really any other way around it.

Yep, most bars will kick minors out in a split second. They won't take any risks.

I have had this problem last year, organizing events here. It's a bit of a tough choice and it's a lot harder to find places that will do both: allow minors and serve alcohol. It's doable but you need to do some legwork. Or - you just admit that you can't welcome everyone if you stick to this place, if it's your favorite. I usually ended up giving up alcohol for the sake of being able to welcome everyone. I think one time I flunked was at the end of the Poker Run ... and some peeps had to leave. It's not a good feeling ...

I think its odd that you are all discussing this since everyone knows that minors cant go into bars....common knowledge. Fact is, we like Slingshot and we probably wont be moving.

Correct?!

Yes, I believe everyone is aware of that. But 10 or 20 years ago it might have been possible to get away with sneaking a few slightly under-age people into a bar whose owner you knew. Not so much anymore.

Correct for now, as we all know what happened last year when nobody could make up thier mind. We have a good thing going so far, and the turnout is constantly growing.

And having a servers permit and working in my friends winery, I know the OLCC (aka. KGB - ETOH division) all to well.

We're discussing it because it's an issue. If you are gonna stick to this location, which seems to be your preference (and that's fine, it's your event), please put a note about it in the original post so people understand right away that minors are not allowed.

Great to meet some new faces tonight, and see all the familiar ones, glad everyone could make it.

No inflatables (or farm animals) were harmed during tonight's meet.
