I Ride: 2012 Triumph D675
Hey folks, I'm new to the area. Moved to Pdx just this week from Colorado. Spent a year in Boulder, and then last year in Durango. I'm originally from Atlanta, GA. I came up here because I love the city of Portland, and I'm here for school/work. Been riding for a few years. First bike was a Triumph Bonneville, and now I'm on a Daytona 675, which has been a blast. I'd definitely like to check out some group rides, and the Tuesday night coffee thing sounds right up my alley. Also if anybody just wants to hit me up for a spirited ride, feel free. Hopefully my email is visible. I literally don't know a single soul here, so I hope to meet some of y'all soon! It's going to take a min. to figure out the workings of this forum. The admins on here did a great job!

-J

Hi every one. Just joined to get to know some new people. I've been riding for years but I have enjoyed my 2001 VFR the most, 50,000 miles worth! I'm looking forward to meeting many of you and revisit some of the roads I've traveled with a new group.

Been out here a year. Transplant from the opposite coast. Have been riding about year and a half. I've logged thousands of miles already. Most of my bikes are older than myself. so if you see someone heading over the hill on a vintage Honda. Might be me.

I Ride: 2006 GSXR 600
Hi everyone... new member here and relatively new rider

Name is Dustin

2006 GSXR 600

started getting into riding back in '05/06 but that (riding) came to an abrupt halt as i found myself involved in a "serious" relationship to the likes that well, i got wrapped up in it and she said "No, you can't have or get a bike"

fast forward to now...

6.5yrs later and that relationship and almost marriage came to an end and i found myself picking up the pieces of what was me 6 years ago and over the last 2 months have gotten back into the swing of things and have my '06 GSXR 600

so, here i am as a new member and looking to get into the scene without being passed up as a just another "new" rider.

Focused now on putting my life-long hobby of art and design skills to use - in becoming one of the elite custom paint and airbrush artists around - focusing solely on bikes, with an occasional car/truck here and there. Goal is to have shop up and painting by summer '13

Talking New Rider Intro - Rhynno
Hi Everyone,
My name is Troy, but you will see my nickname is Rhynno. I started riding street about a year ago, but have wanted to for years. I rode ATCs, ATVs, and dirt some when I was a teenager and into my 20's, but had not ridden much for years. I am a native Oregonian and have lived in the Portland area my whole life. I love the outdoors and really enjoy riding my bike on 150-250 mile day rides throughout the Northwest. I started my street riding on a 2005 Yamaha FZ6, and then migrated up to my current FRJ1300. Riding a motorcycle is the most fun I have had since I had to give up sports many years ago due to injuries. I do commute on my bike some, but I commute all the way across Portland for work, and I really don't dig riding through rush hour traffic. The bumper to bumper thing is much worse on a clutch bike than my automatic cage, lol. I am pretty much addicted to this hobby and will ride any chance I get. I have put on 3,000 miles this season, and most of that has been rolling down the pavement all by my lonesome. I have not joined any clubs yet, but I show up for various poker runs, mostly HOG runs, on my metric bike, and just roll with the punches. As long as I am riding, I am enjoying life. Now that I found this forum, I hope to hook up with more riders and start riding some of the standing rides and some of the adhoc rides which pop up. Here's a pic of my bike and I up out of Hood River on the NE side of Mt Hood (in the background). I look forward to future rides with many of you.

Hello All!

I just happened upon the TnC in Beaverton this evening. Had no idea it was going on. I have been up in the PNW and recently got a 2012 Kawasaki KLE650 Versys. I learned on dirt bikes and I used to ride a Duc Monster S4 when I lived down in San Diego.

Looking to do some sport touring this fall and next Spring. Looking forward to meeting some new friends who ride!

Cheers - Neal

Hello people reading this,
My name is Jozey, i'm 19 and just passed the Team Oregon BRT course this afternoon.
I have just moved to Portland from Australia about 6 months ago and since i hardly know anyone around here i figured a good way to have fun and keep me busy in my spare time would be to get my motorbike license.
I live in Beaverton and i don't own a moto just yet but i'm looking for something of the sportbike variety.
I used to have a chinese 125cc pitbike in Australia that me and my mates would ride around on and my Dad is encouraging me to get into racing at tracks since he used to do that before i was born.
Everyone in my class at Team Oregon were great people and all of us passed the course to our astonishment.
I haven't had a lot of time to think about what specific make and model of bike i'd like to get but something similar to an 2003+ yamaha r6. I'm not really concerned with looks/styling of a bike, i'm more concerned about performance, reliability and how well a bike has been maintained.
I've never riden any kind of road sport bike myself and i've been recommended to stay somewhere around the 600cc category and nothing 1000cc+ since they might be far to dangerous granted my lack of experience.
I looked at a few nice bikes worth about $5000, my budget i've set for myself is no more than $6000, but i am also thinking of getting more for my money by buying one ~$3000 track-only bike and a ~$3000 road bike so i can use the track bike to hone the skills that i shouldn't use on the road and cure that need for speed i get every now and then.

Thanks for reading. and any help, comments, whatever would be very much appreciated!

p.s: what is illegal gravel? it's something i read on this forum earlier but i didn't understand what it meant.

Well looks like i'll be the 1st to say it have you looked at a ninja 250 or sv650? both these bikes are inexpensive, and hold there value well. As far as illegal gravel? I have no idea, sounds like talk of a ducatista. Any way throw another shrimp on the barby and ride safe.

Welcome Jozey to the forumn...I myself have spent sometime in Sydney. SV650 is a great choice both for track and street. TNC (Tuesday Night Coffee) is also a good gathering to meet some folks from this forum.
Ping me if ya need any help...

First bike - never even been a passenger
I just got my first bike last night (naked 2004 SV650). Seller was kind enough to ride it out to my place and it's now nestled snugly in my garage until I take the BRT course next weekend.
Never been a passenger on a bike before, and up until two weeks hadn't even sat on one.

Helmet and jacket are on order from Beaverton Motorcycle as correct sizes and color weren't in stock. A coworker that rides (and many others) have given me the impression that specific footwear and protection for the lower body is appropriate. Having travelled thousands of miles on a bicycle I can appreciate the need for protection when hitting the pavement but I'm also used to regularly hitting 30 and 40+ mph with just some lycra on the legs so I'm a bit bummed about the extra expense and clothing complications for the commute.
I guess I have some more shopping to do. I think I'll start out erring on the side of caution (especially because I'm new to motorcycles) and then make a better informed decision later (though it may be the same decision).

Noob!
Hey all!

I'm a noob, and my name is Joe. Just passed my BRT in August and have been riding ever since. I live in the Beaverton area and go to coffee at AVA every once in a while. I have not attended a TNC there because I have to work during that night, but I have squidded past while on the way to work.

I ride a White 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 250R Special Edition.

I am grabbing a jacket and shoes later this month so I don't squid around anymore. As for a helmet I wear an Arai RX-Q (white).

If you see me come say hello.. because.. I know I won't. I kinda keep to myself.

Thanks all.

Riding in and around PDX for a while now. Running low on riding buddies lately.

Would love some motivation to get out on days like today when there's sucker holes of sunshine amongst the looming rain clouds.

dual sport, cruiser or multistrada

Helloooo. I'm Alex, a PDX native that recently started riding. I went from a '76 CB750 to an '01 SV650 to a '12 FZ8 over a year. I held onto the FZ for about 6 months and then traded her in a month ago for an '08 HYM796. All told I've put in 6k+ miles and I'm looking forward to more!

Look out for me on my weekday ride to work up and down W Burnside.. my hi-viz yellow jacket makes me pretty easy to spot.
