Hey everyone.

So I've been watching, and waiting.... And waiting.... And waiting... For a Portland area mantenance day and it just doesn't show up. I have seen them for plenty of other regions, but not portland

Do portlanders not change their oil? Lol

I changed my oil last week myself.

And I didn't have to share my beer with anyone...

Got beer? I'd be happy to drink it while watching you change your oil.

FYI. If you or anyone else had no clue about how to perform basic maintenance im sure a bunch of people would come forward to help out.

That's very much so appreciated. But at the same time, I know enough to get by.

I simply thought it would be a good way to meet people.

Set one up?
Or go to the upcoming Vancouver one. I'm sure you'd be more than welcome.

We did a bunch of these two summers ago i beleive? A few issues arose, and then low attendance happened, and it sort of fizzled out as myself and the other people organizing were a bit busy.

I've considered doing another one, and having each one specific to a certain set of skills. For example, I'd like to teach how to change tires by hand. I've gotten pretty darn good at it and know a fair bit of tricks

^that.

why should your community be in charge of something you're very capable of setting up? if you want it, make it happen.

It's been my past experience that these typically turned into a "Free help" sort of event.

I think it would be best to organize it bi-monthly, and every single time have some one present a basic task (changing tires, valve checks, etc etc) and then go onward into some minor help.

If some one has the space and willingness for lots of strangers, I'd be down to help organize it again. I've learned a few things from the last four or so we did. Some things went really good, some things were less than ideal.

The nice thing about a "service" idea is dealing with the old oil. If someone could deal with the old oil that would be awesome.

I could bring my tire changing machine and balancer and take care of tire changes, I'll have to figure out how to dispose of old tires.

I think this is a great idea

Change oil
change tires
proper chain adjustment or replacement
top off the brake fluid
set up suspension for the rider if possible
check tire pressure
etc....
