I never thought I would be tasked with posting a thread like this. I regret to report that Speedgeek died this morning on the FTM ride out in John Day. Quick summary of the accident is he went off course, down an embankment, and collided into a tree.

RIP Bill. I love you, man.

Sad indeed and I echo the comment about a higher number of fatal accidents this summer. God's grace and comfort prayerfully given to Bill's family and friends. Be careful out there boys and girls.

Only met him very briefly at PIR a couple years ago. Seemed like a really nice guy.

Had the pleasure of meeting Bill and trying to catch him at PIR a couple times.....It wasn't until he blew an oil line that I got that chance. I hope his friends and family take some comfort in knowing what a great guy he was to the "community".....Godspeed

Only rode with the milk truck a few times, but everytime I saw Bill around we'd chat it up. Truly nice guy.

I just rode up to windy ridge with him a week ago! Damn, Bill was a fantastic rider and a great guy. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I got the call earlier today and my brain didnt let me believe it, still in denial. Im going to miss my good friend so bad, true hooligan rides will never be the same ever again.

I was only talking to him at a Tuesday coffee recently, what a nice guy, and so unassuming... this is truly sad and these threads do seem quite frequent. as of late. If we can learn anything from it, please do pass on what happened... a life wasted is a life wasted, but maybe we can all walk away with a lesson.

I do agree. Lets give it a few moments to let it sink in, and time to mourn (especially such an amazing family that Bill was a part of) before we reflect or speculate.

I just talked to Bill about this trip. I know that it is a special annual trip he has made for years. I am so heartbroken and prayers to Bill's family. He was such a positive and funny guy - not to mention a skilled rider. This one really hits home. RIP Bill . . . I am going to miss you buddy.
