It's official....Portland drivers SUCK!!

A major insurance company believes Portland drivers are among the least safe in the nation.

Allstate released its annual report on the best drivers in the U.S. based on car collision frequency.

Portland ranked 151st out of 200 cities.

In fact, the study calls Portland "one of the least safe driving cities" in America.

The report said the average Portland driver will experience an auto collision every eight years.

Portland drivers plummeted in the rankings from 128th last year and 113th in 2010.

Eugene and Salem both fared much better.

Eugene ranked as the nation's 12th safest city for motorists, with drivers only reporting a collision every 12 years on average. That's 16.5 percent less than the national average.

Salem ranked 72nd with a crash reported for the average driver every 9.7 years.

Sioux Falls, SD, is America's safest driving city, according to Allstate's rankings.

Seattle was 154th on the list. Tacoma came in at 156th.

So Seattle and Tacoma drivers are still worse is what I took from that. I'm more concerned with Portland drivers though since I deal with them a lot more often than Seattle or Tacoma.

Interesting, but seeing as how someone tries to run me off the road at least once a day, I won't argue against it. I see a lot of eyes down, presumably texting. I watched one chick a few days ago swerve across 2 lanes to exit off of 205, all while messing around with the dial on her stereo.

Note that I posted this in the correct section AND I never said Portland was the worst. Just that it's official they suck.

I would believe it. I have lived here from 1991 to 2010 (2010-2012 Mississippi) then 2012-present and have not had an accident but have seen plenty. Gotta keep your head on swivel....swivel I tell ya!

Definitely agree. I was heading up I5 towards Seattle the other day on the Goldwing and some lady started merging over into my lane right next to me. Layed on the horn and moved to the left. Absolutely no response from the driver.

Scandinavians. Very reserved and polite, unless it's some clown with an Iowa plate. Rush hour in SF lasts about 10 minutes. The lefse doesn't even get warm.

I commute into Portland every day... It frigghtens me how many idiots I see on the road. I've lived here all my life and just thought it was my tolerance that was getting lower for morons, but NOPE!!!, this proves it, there are more idiots!

And Portland natives blame all the out of towners moving here. Bullshit! I've driven through most of the country and insist it's Portlanders, and insist they have no idea what they're doing, and no skills, and no ability to think ahead, and make terrible decisions, and don't pay attention, and can't park a friggin Mini in a spot big enough for a Mack truck, and etc etc etc.

Oddly enough, we have some of the safest moto stats in the nation. The training requirements might have something to do with that. Also, possibly the rain for 9 months pushing out the fairweather riders. Or other things. I didn't do a scientific study.

Ain't too many Subarus with rainbow brigade stickers out in the sticks, yet these are the second-worst drivers in town. The absolute worst? Fogeys with W'04 stickers still on their Buick Regal or Ford pickup, often garnished with a service branch sticker (I'll grant you, these people sometimes come from the 'burbs but generally drove in from the boonies - it's hard to remember what year it is out in the woods).

However, third-worst goes to idiots in claptraps with so many stickers, you'd think they were structurally holding the car together. Stickers of any kind! Pet stickers, "Save the Earth" stickers, "Terrorist Hunting permit" stickers, "Dog is my Copilot" stickers...it never ends.

Essentially what I'm saying is, the worst drivers label themselves with stickers. It's how you know to avoid them. See stickers? Get the fuck past them before they crash into you. The more stickers, the bigger moron, the greater the danger.
