OP: I find it funny that you're calling others "elitist" yet you're talking like you're better than them. Better way to approach this thread would of been. ![]()

| Race Qualifier | How dare you make a mockery of such a great story. You should be banned for your poor interactions and outlandish behaviour on this forum. I've been part of really really large internets forums for long long times and this is outright just out of control. You should be ashamed of yourself. Get a life, loser. |

Prior to this, I tended to dismiss such ideas out of hand; especially given that on the PNW Angels weekend/ride, there were several Ducatis and none of their owners had even a hint of such attitudes or a stereotype coming to life. They all were all among the nicest, most down to earth (and most skilled) riders I've met. Perhaps it has more to do with the lack of testosterone; I guess that's why I prefer to ride with women if I ride with anyone, because with men there always seems to be fragile and/or texas-sized egos involved. In fact, I have zero desire to own any Ducati, or any V-twin. The main reason is engine braking....ugh! One of the primary things I like about 2-strokes is the lack of engine braking. Downhill twisties are way more fun on two strokes, way smoother without the engine braking interfering with the smoothness and continuity of one's descent. I don't even like that aspect of riding any 4-stroke on downhills, even inline fours like my Z1000. If I ever wanted one of those I would've bought one years or decades ago...it's not like I can only afford one bike. Hell, you almost sound like the HD-only folks who've drank too much of the Milwaukee marketing department's kool-aid. You know, when you get into a "discussion" with them about why you don't care for the Motor Company's offerings...their usual response is something like, "you wish you could have one but can't afford it" or other such tripe. But hey, good try anyway..... ![]() |

Like I've mentioned before, your bike is the one they should have made. I've known so many people who wished they would've made one like that (or the Mert Lawill special) from the factory. It's weird they didn't, especially given that they did make an unconventional try in the '70s with the XLCR. The sport oriented crowd knew it wasn't worth the effort due to being "all dressed up and no where to go" in relation to the lack of chassis and engine performance enhancements, and the HD traditionalists hated if for it's Cafe look. BTW have you done much riding since your recovery? That bike is way too nice to just sit in your garage! |

People buy motorcycles for hundreds of reasons, one not being more valid then another. If you ride a bike, you are a rider, regardless of what kind of bike you choose to own, or your current skill level. Your story sucks because you are making fun of a couple of guys who ride like squids to try and make yourself feel better...and that is sad. The two riders recollection of the events in your story: "Sweet ride bro, that old lady on the 400 was pretty badass" |
