I know every single one of the people I associate with would have given her help. I do NOT know the circumstances but what kinds of things could she have done to help herself? A cell phone call to her insurance company would have gotten her a tow provided she has insurance and roadside coverage. Not a very expensive option considering. If it was safe, she could have stayed by the roadside until assistance arrived although I don't think I would have done that either. I'd be willing to bet her bike weighs more than 300 pounds. I can understand her anger. As to the Craigslist reply that references Daniel Newell's crash, I would take a suggestion from the woman's rant and suggest that he engage in something that is anatomically impossible (figure it out). She was pissed. He's an idiot. Case closed. |

I always have bike straps in my truck and have helped people stranded with their bikes in the past, but its not always possible. The uninformed f*** who responding to that should have their knee caps broken... ![]() |

| MotoGP Champion | As a group, PNWR should do something nice for her. At least inform her about our group and how we reach out to other riders and how she's become a topic of conversation. Maybe offer her a coffee if she meets us for a ride sometime. (She seems to still have a sense of humor (i.e., the f-you comment about her footpeg).) ![]() I got a rise out of the Daniel comment. But, it's just ignorance and hating. Best not to let it burrow in. |

Those who didn't help will someday need help of their own. As for me, I stand corrected: the dry weight of the 2005 Ninja 250 is 304 pounds. Good job Logan (rep given). We might want to change your handle from Recre8tion to the Envoy. You're a musician, do you know the Warren Zevon song? Looks like another threat to world peace For the envoy Send the envoy . . . | Streetfighter Joined: Sep 2006 From: Portland, Oregon I Ride: 1986 Honda Magna V65 | Just in case the need arises, be aware that Towing a motorcycle with any kind of Rope / Cable / Chain / Strap etc etc is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS !! I have done this before with a relatively light weight dirt bike as both the Tow-ee and the Tow-er and it is not for the inexperienced rider. NEVER tie the rope to the Non Running bike, if you lose control you are going down hard and fast. You need to loop the rope around something and then pinch it off with your hand so that if you let go the rope uncoils and releases the bike from the Tow bike. But again I would strongly suggest not even trying this, Ever. A 400 pound motorcycle tied to a rope is an accident just waiting to happen. Also when you create slack in the rope as the non running bike gets moving, the rope is easily caught up in the rear tire of the towing bike. Like I said, Just say NO to this kind of towing, unless its a truly desperate situation, because if it isn't already, it soon will be !!! Be safe !! |

Dragon rider I hear ya about the pigs...I don't mind getting muddy, I can hose off. them. How's the bike coming Neenja? she said it was having idle problems and won't stay running...plenty of fuel...I'm not a bike mechanic and won't claim to be, but knowing what I know from cars I thought bad fuel filter, or pinched fuel line or carb/float adjust...speculations? anybody? |

| Post Whore (In Training) Joined: Jul 2006 From: Portland OR I Ride: 89 Transalp, 06 DRZ400SM | Thanks, haven't really tried it, and was mostly kidding ( guess I'll just have to throw the ninja on the luggage rack. (Last time I think I did something that 'smart' was one halloween when I, in full black monster costume, I jumped on the back of a friend's car, held onto the luggage rack, and screamed at him through the rear window. The ##$#$# took off, leaving me hanging on for dear life, wipping around corners, feet flying in the air, finally he had to slow for a corner and I jumped off. Next day at school, I was really telling him off for nearly killing me, when he stopped me, and said 'Mark, I don't have a luggage rack on my car, go look' |

| Zone Head Joined: Jan 2007 From: Lake Osghetto, OR I Ride: whenever I can | I couldn't help it.... I replied to the jackasses post and emailed him directly as well: First off, you sound like a COMPLETE JACKASS. Secondly, get your stories straight. The guy that “crashed and died” sounds like Daniel Newell… a rider that I happened to have ridden with earlier that day and he was NOT drunk or hung over. Also, it was on the OVERPASS where you exit I-5 going south to head for Milwaukie. He was a GREAT person, about as opposite of you as one could be. He was the kind of person that would have STOPPED or gone out of his way to help the woman push her bike all 3 miles if that’s what it took. After reading your post, I am quite glad that you don’t ride – the “bikers” that I ride with wouldn’t want you hanging out or riding with us. Since you don’t ride, it is a safe conclusion that you have NO experience with most bikers and “biker culture” as you call it. I have stopped to help numerous people on bikes… even stop to just check if they are ok while taking a break in the shade on a remote road. I happen to ride a “Sportbike” but I will offer help to anyone on two wheels – no matter the make or model, American made or “rice burner”. It must be nice to be shallow and self absorbed to the point of having no common human empathy for another person in distress. You must lead a poor and lonely existence. Thanks to jackasses like you, long gone are the days where mankind actually looked out and helped one another. Do us all a favor and put a bullet in your head. |
