Anyone here done that route? Must investigate! |

| Zone Head Joined: Jan 2007 From: Lake Osghetto, OR I Ride: whenever I can | TRUE! AWESOME road all the way to the end. However watch your speed - the troopers are regulars up there. And it is an "up and back" sorta thing.... after the Toledo cutoff about 3 miles past Toutle, there is no other way out. I used to live in Silver lake (on that road 8 miles east of I-5) and road my bicycle up there all the time. Some serious elevation climbs and fasssssssssst sweepers! Wife and I are planning that road for Sun? Mon? On Sat we are going to Centralia via Windy Ridge side of St Helens and doing day trips this weekend and coming back on Tues... can't wait. | Daytime Adventure Seeker ![]() | J. Ridge is a great ride.... ![]() I've yet to see anything but Ranger Ricks/Rickette's up there. There are more tar snakes than there used to be. Have fun be aware. Last edited by Oly ZX; 08-28-2007 at 09:31 PM.. |

I've heard rumors of law enforcement up there. Mostly go slow in the 25mph areas, however I've never seen any up there. Breathtaking view most the way up and down. The observatory will now make you pay to look over the main edge of the lot before going inside. Kind of a bummer. |

The further up you go the more turns per mile. 45 minutes can get you up there, but if you're enjoying the scenery I'd plan on 1 1/2 hours each way with tourist stops. It truly is beautiful country. |

Don't feel right leaving him behind for a day ride to St. Helens..shorter rides okay, but not this cool of a sweeper ride. He's on call one Saturday this month and i'll post up to go then. If anyone wants to go with that would be great. ~Ebeth |

He found out Friday PM he could pick up his bike Sat AM. Fantastic ride!!! Wish my camera's battery had been charged so we could've taken pics (sorry). Anyway, want to ride 504 again Saturday 9/15 (weather permitting)....this time with a fully charged camera battery. Any takers? |
