Great pics

Try this one: Road condition is incredible!

The last two pics not so much

I can personally attest that this group is not beginner friendly, mfrankpdx and I had our own little ride

Awesome road for you enthusiastic riders

Fossil is a great ride! Did that one this winter when it was nice and sunny. All lonesome, but unforgettable ride!

It could be beginner friendly, and I would be happy to lead a slower group.

Sunday works for me.

Crap. I have family visiting all week. I wanna do this again so bad! I'm still dreaming about carving those corners every night.

And, Midnightmotorsports, as Nietsche said, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. After about the 100th flawless corner, I could feel myself moving from a faster intermediate rider to one almost completely in control of my bike. The roads are that good.

And, what mfrankpdx said: slower riders will have a great time, too, and have the perfect roads to learn on. Plus, it gives the faster riders an excuse to stop at the next turn, throw themselves onto the shady grass and rest.

Take lots of photos!

P.S.: Polvo2, you should call Ron to see if he's available. He seems like the type that might clear his schedule for another opportunity to do this run.

I agree. It sucks. Ya'll stay home and ride around Portland this weekend. No need to go out to the high desert. Nothing to see there. Just keep moving along.

I was only able to get regular-grade gasoline out there. And, I really didn't notice any drop in performance from my R1.

Makes me wonder if I really need to run premium in my tank. Any harm in running a lower grade if the performance seems the same? ExxonMobile doesn't need more of my patronage than necessary.

I think on the liter bikes I'd stick to prem whenever I could..a little reg once in awhile should'nt hurt, but not as a regular diet.

Mine runs just fine on regular. Makes it kind of nice when you're out in the boonies..

I'm there! Can't wait!

As for premium vs regular: Premium is not cleaner, nor provides any more power than regular. The only difference is the temperature at which it ignites. Generally for high compression engines, manufacturers recommend premium so you don't get early detonation or "pinging" and "knocking", which is usually caused by heavy loads on an engine, such as towing something, or racing.

Using a tank of regular once in a while isn't going to gunk up your engine or anything like that. If anything it will clean it up a little because it will burn completely. Often running premium without a full load on the engine doesn't burn all the fuel in the cylinder, actually causing a loss in power.

Fossil ride
Any chance a rider could be back in Portland by 5:00pm?

also my bike only has about 100 mile range, is there enough gas stations, premium or not?

do we have an on-line map?
