Torture rack...
As I get older and uh... "larger".... The ZX10 has become a bit too uncomfortable, a 100 miler yesterday convinced me, so today I installed some Heli-Bars. What a difference!!! It moved the bars up 2 1/4 inches, and back 1 7/8ths, so now it feels rather like my old zx9 did, which I really liked. I used to do 1000 mile weekends on that one, and I am looking forward to some more of those now!

By the way, the instructions were A+, and install was simple enough. I would recommend these to anyone who would like to make their bike more comfortable, and I could help if you don't have many tools.

Old bars in this pic, but all threads need pics....

OOh, I've been considering some of these once I start wanting to do longer rides...but it doesn't appear that they make them for a bike as old as mine (at least HeliBars doesn't.)

I took some pics today, hard to tell once both are installed, but they made a nice difference.

Looks real good. Bet you will really notice a difference on long rides.
That is the main reason I went with the CBR F4i instead of the RR. Riding Position.

Only ridden down to the gas station so far, been raining pretty much ever since. Felt pretty good, similar to my old zx9r.

I think I want to get these for GSXR600, I have a lower back injury that tends to get aggravated with riding. most of the time I am ok on the bike, but then I hurt for a few days.

How much did the run? Did you look into the other types?

I looked at a few others, but I have some friends that have Heli brand bars, and they have been very happy with the quality of the bars, and installation instructions are very detailed as to what wires need moved or ties need clipped and such. My bike the top clamp (36mm socket!) has to come off, but still didn't take too long. I have a very good variety of tools, and that did come in handy as some allen bolts were tough to get to, and one side I used a traditional wrench, and the other I needed a allen socket with a ratchet. No big deal, and if anyone needs help with install don't be afraid to ask.

My bars were $280, and worth every penny.

Mine are clips so you can set them where you like... is this what you mean, handle/hand hitting the tank? I also put on some Throttlemeisters to help out as well

You are right, I like it... but this is the basement, I can roll the bike thru the door to the inside to work on it so it wasnt below freezing out in the garage at the time of the pic

I know on my 06 if I go full lock either way the top of my fingers are grazing the fairing...was just wondering if his was the same way and how it was affected by moving the bars...

Oh...ok, well the Heli concept is to raise the bars/barends. On mine it raises the ends of the bars more than at the fork (only 1/2" or so there at clip) by tipping the angle up just a bit so by that time the handle part will be 1.5" or so taller... so maybe you will have more clearance between your fingers and the fairing since it should be taller...

will see if Kaz can add to that!

True, they angle the bars so that the end of the bar is up higher than stock, mine are also clip-on style, and you can set them where you want them. Mine do not touch anywhere, tank or fairing. just leaving to go ride it to work now! See y'all later

Thanks for the post. I have been thinking about this for some time. I have been debating between the Helibars and the LSL Handlebar.

Hmmmm.......Just may take you up on the offer to help install!

Yeah... I have one of those LSL's too!!!
But they are almost too tall!
On mine they are prob around 2" more than the Heli's!

Sure, weekends are best for me to help.

I have not seen any of the other brands in person, but I have to say that the heli bars are nicely done. Are the LSL bars the dirtbike style?

Yeah, mine are that style... you have to replace the triple clamp with the LSL one so that style bar works. They were on my bike when I bought it. But I def like the Heli ones better

WOW, those bars are tall!

They would be great on a motard/naked conversion, did you remove them?

I have to admit that I have been riding ALOT more now that I have these heli bars, I was uncomfortable with the stock bars, and now it feels great, so I ride more often.
