Taste of Racing - June 14th and 15th 2008 !!
Where: Portland International Raceway
Date's: June 14th and June 15th 2008 (The weather looks absolutely awesome!!)
When: During OMRRA lunch time, see race day schedule handout for approximate times (Approximate track crossing times: Saturday 10AM, Sunday 11AM)

Taste of Racing

$20 for 20 minutes, Taste of Racing is an opportunity for motorcycle enthusiasts to experience the thrill of racing, cornering, and riding fast in a safe environment where you won't get a ticket!! Sound like fun? Want to try it out? Click on the Taste of Racing link above for specific details!

Every paid ToR participant will receive:
EDR Performance coupon for a free baseline dyno of your bike
Woodcraft 10% off purchase coupon

Additionally, we are working on the details now (need to create the coupon's), but Cascade Race Tire Services will be offering Pirelli tires at the racer discount, and SDS Performance will be giving 10% off labor costs for all ToR participants!

Dark Horse Racing is running ToR this year, we are pitted on the second row in from the Start/Finish line. You cant miss us, we will have a ToR sign-up sandwich board at our pits, and obnoxiously blue race bikes.

We are also accepting volunteers to work corners during the ToR events. If you are interested in ToR but don't have a bike, or are not sure if you're ready for the track, you can volunteering some time and help us by working a corner! We will be BBQing in our pits and will feed anyone who help's out.

If anyone has any questions, please post them here, or PM me directly.

Lastly, I want to thank OMRRA, EDR Performance, Woodcraft, Cascade Race Tire Service, SDS Performance, and all the volunteers who help make this event happen!

Hope to see you there!

Bump

Great turnout today, thanks for those that participated. We had one rider go down in T9, he jumped right up, and his bike fared pretty well.

Weather looks good for tomorrow as well, hope you guys can make it out!

It sucks when a rider goes down cause then your done for the day and out your money. If you all go out for the first time be careful.

Word. Take the first lap or 2 slow to warm up your tires.

You might also reduce the tire pressure a little if your going to push it.

hard breaking and hard acceleration will warm up the tires faster as well.

but a steady easy entrance speed until those shoes are warm :D

We didn't end the ToR after the crash, it was before the midway point so we gridded everyone back up in the hot pit, and let blinky get the rider and bike. Once the track was cleared, we went back out for about another 10 minutes. We really dont want to cut it short if we can help it, and in this case, the rider was up and ok before the flag was waved, and it only took maybe 5 minutes to clear the track.

Great time today, hope some of you can make it for tomorrow!

Oh, and heal up Destin!

Just wanted to say TOR was AWESOME!!! Was my first one and boy did I feel slow...Oh wait I am slow! LOL Seriously was a lot of fun! Definitely need to do another one soon.

Had new tires so I was being extra careful but was having fun by the fourth lap. Unfortunately that was the last lap. But am glad to say that no more chicken strips on my new tires! Goal for next time....knee pucks broken in!

Thanks everyone who attended, I hope everyone had a good time. We couldn't have asked for better weather, or track conditions!
