That way, no one will be held back or pressured by riders around them. And, a 750 Nighthawk is plenty fast to stick with all but advanced sportbikers, if ridden by a good rider. |

I have done a little work to it from stock. Been behind the bars of a street bike since I was 16 years old started dirt when I was 5. Rode scout bikes in the Army along with patrol bikes as an MP. Have been to several courses and even taught with MSF for a few years. Does sound like fun and have to this day got some good pointers from some unexpected sources. Right now my wife is learning to ride on a CB250 Nighthawk it is hard to be subjective with someone when you sleep with them at night LOL. That is what really attracted me to the thread but not sure the pace etc for her. I have seen the videos ![]()

You do not have to do the ride if you don't want to. At least it would give you a chance to put a face to a name. ![]() ![]()
but the intent of this ride is very mellow.

Don't get me wrong I am seriously considering this. I am just worried that my wife with 4 months on a bike may feel out of place on a 250 nighthawk. I think this is a great idea and with 26 years of street riding for myself I know I still can learn new tricks. I would be a fool to believe otherwise. My concern is big group, new riders and how my wife and her bike fit into the equation. I may have my son with 2 months experience and a S50 Boulevard and his friend with same level on a R1 up for the weekend as well. Everyone could benefit. I would like to try the social aspect of riding it is something I am not familiar with always just been transportation more than recreation.

![]() ![]() I think the main subject of this ride is not going fast, but to learn to build the foundation needed to ride at your own pace on a road with a group and get comfortable in that environment. I think there is no shame going with this group. The coaches are there to help you and not to brag how they ride . From my experience, working with a good rider will help you progress appropriately. They can see your body position, where your proper lines are.yad..yady boo...... and basically see how you ride. Don't worry about being slow. Fast will come . Take it easy, learn progressively, have the correct mental outlook and understand that there is a lot to learn. Most important thing is that you learn something and finish the day with a smile on your face and a one piece shiny bike.I work saturday and I'll miss this ride. Hope you guys have a safe and fun ride!

| MotoGP Champion Joined: Dec 2006 From: Portland, Oregon I Ride: '99 R1, '80 Suz GS450S | I agree with Lee and Ben that this is probably going to be one of the safest rides PNWR has ever held. The one-to-one coach-to-newb ratio and the intention of the program should ensure that. Each coach is going to be interested primarily in the safety of his or her charge, not with impressing anyone of their speed and prowess. I haven't told those who have asked if they can ride along, even though they aren't a coach or newb, that they can't. I don't want to discourage anyone from going on this ride. But, if your intention in riding along is to show off for the newbs (as happened at Spec's Hagg Lake newb ride two summers ago), then please choose a more appropriate ride that day. But, if you really want to come out and take photos, help out where needed, learn how to instruct others, or offer advice to the newbs, then I have no problem with that. Please just remember the purpose of this ride: to introduce newbs and intermediates to their coaches and to group-riding, to get comfortable on the bike, and to step up to the next level of competency. |

| Zone Head Joined: Jun 2007 From: Portland, Oregon I Ride: British | I think what Vaun, Lee, and Jeff are trying to say is, if you can't enter an advised 35MPH corner going 70MPH, and be exiting out of the corner at 80MPH, you should look elsewhere...I kiiid, I kiiid. All joking aside, if you have never ridden with this group of people, and/or are new to riding, this is the ride that you should make room in your schedule to come out and attend. I have had the pleasure of learning quite a few things riding around with these guys, over the last year, and can tall you than almost anyone can too. Only other time you are going to get such a close one-on-one instruction, from an almost total stranger, is if you make it out to the track. They happen to be a good group of people to hang out with and talk to as well. Only thing you will regret is not coming out, even if you have been on your Nighthawk 250 for only 4 months. -Drazen |

I just want to get my stuff together before I jump the gun. Besides, just to get to starting point I will need to ride with someone. I'm looking forward to next event. |

| MotoGP Champion Joined: Dec 2006 From: Portland, Oregon I Ride: '99 R1, '80 Suz GS450S | ![]() The kick-off ride is simply a way to get the ball really rolling, so that everyone involved can meet one another, get matched up and go on an introductory ride together. Then, hopefully, we can all benefit from notes comparisons at the end of the day. I think it would be a good idea to have coach-newb rides like this from time-to-time to give new coaches and newbs a chance to get involved and for established teams to meet again to gauge the progress of the original class. And, also because I think these rides will be unique and fun in having such a high vet-to-newbie ratio. |

I am not new to riding (this is my 6th or 7th summer on a bike) but I don't ride with large groups or new riders much. Is it all right if I show up and tag along somehow? |
