I Ride: only when it's nice out...
Whoah, whoah, whoah now:
you guys let MARK lead, but didn't accept my application?!? Where's the PNW love?

Seriously, though: glad to see everyone had a good time and there were NO get-offs. I am jealous that I have missed so many group rides lately, but what can I say, I'm loving the new job!

Anyways, hope to catch a couple of you out there in the near future, before the weather turns back to balls.

It's my GF's ride. The bike is pretty mellow below 7~8K..where i'm at ALL of the time. I only got above 8k once and it's like being shot out of a slingshot, makes for passing cars a real gas....whoosh! I would not have the finesse to ride it above 8k on a twisty road. the only thing is the seat. I've got a bony ass, so if it was more rounded to my butt cheeks, it would be perfect. The stock brake pads are dogcrap. The EBC replacements are better, but i think someone mentioned there are even better pads with better bite..SBS? I think it was Late Apex, just can't remember the brand.

Oh and pirelli diablos work perfect for our speed. What a difference between the stock OEM tires it came with (squirmy).

Yep, going with EBC HH when the time comes. What could be better than being shot out of a slingshot, a cannon at an obscene rate of speed, it is sweet. Working on the finesse part in the upper revs in the turns. Runnin the tires from previous owner, will look into Pirelli's

Vaun,
Matt looked like he was going to cry when you said his bike looks like a 250 Ninja. I think his balls shrank a little! Poor Matt..$20 says that he goes out and gets a BIG ZX6R sticker to put on his bike before the next ride!

sweet ride my friend!

I wanted to give a BIG thanks to Chris for taking 3+ hours to cart me and my flatted-Duc around, but Kasey beat me to it. Chris, I think I owe you a couple. Thanks also to Kasey and Armand for sticking around on the side of the road, I really appreciated it.

As soon as I get my hands on a Metzler that's NOT from Portland Motorcycles (and adjust my rear brake a bit), I'll be back...

I really liked the small group format, different skill levels get different paces and no one has to ride over their heads. Keith (my "mentee") is a good rider, and didn't need much for coaching, I think I was able to give him a couple of tips that will improve his skills, but it was a pleasure to ride with him, and meet up with the others at the halfway stop and hear the stories of improvement.
When I leaned to ride they handed you a set of keys and said good luck kid, If something like this were available to me than, I would probably have a few less scars.
Great job of making this a success Vaun.

What is wrong with Portland Motorcycles? I buy some stuff for my ATV from them and I'm happy with the price, but dont know anything about service or sales.

No, they don't. The service manager took one look at my bike and said they wouldn't touch it, not even to change the tire, because it wasn't a brand they sold. Claimed that there was a "liability" issue and that they didn't have the necessary tools.

IIIM that sucks. I have heard all sorts is mixed info about PMC. I called about 2 years ago to get my 94 Suzuki serviced and they told me it was too old. I buy parts there from time to time because they are close.

Ed, It was nice riding with you.

Thanks everyone!

Well, not to name names, but my student didn't make her class the day of the big ride. And, then she had a mishap which caused her to be without a bike until now.

But, I've taken on a couple more students and it seems to be working great. I've seen improvement and my students think it is worthwhile.

If anyone else would like to ride with me with training in mind, either a one-time thing or to try to make it regular, hit me up. I do enjoy passing down what I've learned along the way.

I also intended to set up a Hagg Lake ride last weekend. But, then, darn Lee650 set up a too-good-to-be-missed Klickitat/Wind River trip that made me jump on it instead.

But, if there is interest, I can post a thread about a Bald Peak/Hagg Lake run for the coaches and any newbs who want to come along. I can't do it this weekend, but next weekend I'm free.

The weather is getting iffy. But, we might luck out and get a native-American summer yet.

If anyone else has been coaching, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Sorry to thread jack but this is too funny! OMG...

I am "Native American" so I think I'm qualified to speak in regards to this. It IS OK to use the term "Indian Summer". It's an actual term used to describe weather conditions. The term "Native American Summer" would be incorrect in this context.

Sorry Vaun....I couldn't resist!!!

I'm a bit too PC at times. (I was being both PC and tongue-in-cheek at the same time, if that's possible.) Indian Summer it is.

I am sure that I could always learn something new so how about taking me on as a disciple? I am not sure how effective it would be since you stay in another zip code when you are behind me, because my exhaust gives you a headache.

as for hi-jacking by Delightful and Transported, got a kick out of both your comments.

Vaun, I'd be interested in another Vet-Newb ride the following weekend depending up whether or not it is "Indian Summer" or "Native American Summer"

Brian, I'll take you up on your offer
