Thumbs down Used bikes
So I stopped in there last night to check out some bikes and try on gear...

They had 3 leather jackets in stock...WTF?

And get this - every single used sportbike had been dropped, seriously...

Anyone know of another dealer out in the Hillsboro area? One with more choices for leather gear and some nice used bikes that have not been dropped would be nice.

I may end up not buying a bike from a dealer but it would be nice to look at/sit on one and not stare at the bent levers, missing sliders and tore up/cracked plastics.
=(

When I was looking at the Ninja 650R, I went to (I think it's called) Action Motorsports in Oregon City off of Main St. They had a good selection.

Good luck!

why would you dog a shop for their used selection? Maybe all the really nice used bikes are inside so turd squids who dont want to buy them dont sit on them? There is a guy on this specific forum that bought a used 04 GSXR1k on here that couldnt have been more perfect (only 700 miles on it). For a really good price i might ad.

Well a couple months ago I went in there and almost bought a 650r. Now I go in there and they must have sold all their decent used bikes and not bought more (is this common late in the year?)

I am sure the selection of bikes just about everywhere is not as good as it was a few months ago. We are nearing the end of the prime riding season (maybe a month left?) so naturally alot of bike are selling during the summer.

If you watch the market between now and next say April you will see a swing (at least for private party sales). Good luck.

Motosport sells tons of used bikes....all of the good ones go quick. I'm sure that they've owned a LOT of those banged up rides for a while. If you're looking for a standard bike like the 650R, I have my ride for sale. It's a Kawi Z750S for $4200. PM me if you want to know more.

The Nicer used bike are inside, I bought my 1000RR THere and they treated me great and have no complaints and as far as people having bad experiences its going to and can happen im sure at any dealer when ever sales is involved your going to have happy customers and the few that arent. I agree there leathers and such are slim and far inbetween but they can order almost anything and get it fast. I was refered to Cycle gear for my leather needs by a friend and they have excellent customer service and was a great experience when I bought my One peice they had to order it because im hard to fit and that was on monday night and got it in 2 days . http://www.cyclegear.com/

I was in there this past Tuesday to look at some used bikes and they were mostly trash. So I found a brand new 2006 ZX-6R inside for a good deal and took that baby home

The ones outside are all the wholesale bikes that are thrashed but for someone that needs/wants a bike and doesnt have a lot of money or credit those are for you, thwey do ask crazy high prices for them but they have a lot of room to come down just like any other business theres some sucker for every seat so they slap hight prices on them. Like I said if they have any clean used bikes they'll be inside .

I think that most of the bikes outside are on consignment. There is a guy there that trolls through Craigslist to see if someone wants help selling their bike.

They are relatively small so they don't have a lot of floor space for riding gear. And in any event I think they lean towards dirt bikers and trail riders because of the area.

Big picture, though, is that they are one of the more reputable shops around. Your experience notwithstanding.

pro caliber had a used silver 2006 cbr600rr that has some serious rash on BOTH sides of the bike and were asking 9300!! Thas is more then Motosport is selling their brand new 08 GSXR600'S!! New gsxr's are at 8399+499 f/s68for licence plates and title. thats like 9k out the door if you dont pay sales tax. Heres the deal. every once in a while, the best shop that has the best prices and the best customer service will screw up every once in a while, its impossable not to. We're all human beings. Once God himself opens a honda shop, ill shop there, but until then, not everyone can be made happy.

I've bought several new bikes at motosport and have never had a problem. I'll be honest, perhaps a bit too honest, I've been at most every mc shop in portland. All have issues, I could go on and on about factory, bhy (and a few others) but I think that Motosport does a good job, perhaps the materials and manual provided didn't go to the new owner - should they? Was it part of the deal? In a perfect world yes, but the new owner bought the bike regardless. I would venture a guess that he bought the bike because the bike is beautiful and he got a good deal.

Congrats on your new bike!!

BTW - used bikes are used bikes. They may have arrived to the shop that way. God knows I've had my share of gravity, plastic and hard parts.

I think Beaveton Honda Motorcycles, off cascade & scholls ferry (check out the website beavertonmotorcycles) has a great selection of m/c and they have one whole side of store that is just gear. If you go there ask for Jimmy he was my sales guy and he let me look around till I found what I liked and he will work with you to get financed.

I stopped by there to check them out the other day, but they were closed. I imagine they had just closed because some guy was sitting outside the gate on his brand new quad (I imagine waiting for a friend w/truck) and he had a shit eating grin on his face.

Well I will probably have to go back to motosport and check out there stuff again when I am ready to buy....two weeks to go =)

no complaints from my end. I bought my bike from them back in feb, and they will be the first shop I call when I'm back in the market. They were thousands lower than everyone else, and treated me well. I also got all my gear at cost as part of the deal!!!!
