Parking in downtown Portland
Ok so I just thought I'd ask... I live over in Vancouver and rarely do i head into down town Portland, but yesterday I had a meeting i needed to go to down in the pearl district. I was planning on riding the ol' ninja but the clouds were gathering so instead i drove the chick magnet that is the 97 taurus.

Anyway, i found a parking spot on the street paid my $ and got my little sticker with the instructions. "use adheasive to sick receipt on your curb side window." So it was fine with the taurus, but what do you all do if you are trying to park a motorcycle down town, where there is no garage??? if i stick the little receipt on my bike some ass hat will take it off and put it on his car and I'll get the ticket.

I was just wonderin'

Try the "Ask an Officer" forum. Those folks would be the best source.

Stick it to the headlight or the inside (facing out) of the windscreen...I've never had any taken. Just make sure you keep your copy of the receipt with you. That way if said ass-hat does take your sticker and you are ticketed, you can prove that you did indeed pay...I actually called odot ,the dmv and Mult. country traffic awhile back asking them the same question.

The guidelines for motorcycles are as follows: place the sticker on the motorcycle headlamp. Be sure to remove and retain the receipt portion so that in the event someone steals your sticker (or it falls off, or ??) and you receive a ticket, you can prove that in fact you had paid for that time.

Lots of info about public parking for bikes here:

I would mention also that I've done this EASILY 100 times, and my sticker has never disappeared.

for the most part I believe that people are honest downtown with that stuff. Ive seen people put their ticket on the meter for the next guy to use what time was left on the ticket.

But yes, detach the little part as your receipt and you can use that as proof that you paid to park there.

Wow. Dyslexia. I thought this was about doing something in downtown Parkland...
