| WMRRA Qualifier | Sunset extremely foggy Probably foggier than a song from the Tubes or Foghat, because literally this morning was a "slow ride." Unfortunately I couldn't take it easy, because visibility sucked, and it was only 9am. I actually have never had this problem until I started going to PSU, usually I'd take I5, since I was co-enrolled, but damn. The rain isn't a problem, just this cold weather and lot'sa fog. Is the fog usually this bad (I've had worse actually)? Does anyone else ride in this (or have ridden)? ![]() My winter gloves from my GF were (probably) a gift from Jesus himself. I didn't even feel a light tickle from the low temperatures at all. Don't ask about my feet though, that's another story. ![]() ![]() |

Damn chilly ride to work but no ice on the road and no rain so it was all good. You flatlanders get stuck with the fog a lot more than us hillbillys. |

| Superbiker Joined: Mar 2008 From: Portland/LA - But lives in Seattle. I Ride: in the rain, because falling down can be fun. | I was a bridge operator down there for a bit... I've seen fog over the river (bridge height mind you) thick enough that you can only go 5-10 and feel kinda almost safe.. other days thick enough you can't really walk without bumping into stuff.. Although not often and you had to be up at some odd hours to see it. Those days I took my bicycle in to work. Yeah, it sucks but unless it's gotten worse in the last year it's not enough to stop ya... imao. Cheers! and enjoy ![]() |

I currently live in the country west of hillsorro and the fog comes up out of the fields and is real bad. Grew up in the west hills and I remember many a time couldn't see more than 10 feet in front. It does get better. |

Westside, yep, you'll get intermittent fog during the cold months, particularly when you're down in the valley between the Coast Range and the West Hills (Beaverton, Aloha, Hillsboro, Forest Grove, etc). Eastside (SE, Milwaukie, Clackamas, etc) it's generally not as much of an issue, especially away from the river. Anytime you're next to a river, lake, marshlands, or open fields, you can expect fog to develop during the winter nights. It's worse further south in the Valley... Albany, Corvallis, Eugene. Flat, low, farmland... much more consistent fog during winter. |
