I'm planning to head down to Laguna Seca for the Dec. 3rd (Tuesday) track day. Wondering if anyone else from the board is planning on making that trip too? I'd love to have someone to head down with. Maybe even splitting a room to cut down on the costs would be great. Anyone,.... |

I don't have a stock exhaust laying around in my garage and I'd have to either find a used one or do some kind of quieter slip-on can. My worry is that having to do that would put me over budget for this trip. It's tight as it is! |

Rolling off going up the hill won't work either and its dangerous. Exhaust "deflectors" don't do it either. I got the meatball flag on a speed triple with a factory race can. You only get one warning. I put the stock muffler on and was OK. Plus I could carry full throttle up the hill. Picked up 2 sec/lap just with that! ![]() Last edited by HellsAlien; 11-20-2008 at 10:42 AM.. |

I was planning to take that route, but if it won't work, I'd rather spend my $60 on something that will work. |

I built some ducting that changed the exhaust exit from straight back to all the way left exit; did not work. That product says it is good for 10dB loss. I can't say that is enough. I doubt they will guarantee a pass at LC with one, there are too many variables. A quick search of the web, I didn't find any threads stating success at LC track day events. Given the costs and hassles of said trip, you better have a stock exhaust in the truck to put on if you get meatballed, or share a stock bike across groups with another rider. PS: that place can be slick in early sessions esp up the hill, and the heat goes away fast when shaded over in the PM, so pay attention! Last edited by HellsAlien; 11-20-2008 at 03:07 PM.. |

Keigwins: Laguna Seca and Infineon have noise restrictions. Laguna (92dB): Stock exhausts are required. No exceptions! Aftermarket pipes are not allowed at Laguna -- they are sticklers about this now! The onus to pass the sound testing every lap is on the rider! Every bike needs a two or three digit number (on the front and right side) six inches tall. Pick one at random; we'll deal with any duplications at the track. Duct tape is fine. You can do this in advance or at the track. Infineon (103dB): Infineon's tolerance for noise should not be a problem unless your exhaust system is defective. Bikes don't need numbers (we've never had a violation there due to their liberal noise limits). Sound monitoring is self-policing. |
