| MotoGP Champion | *Standing Ride* Westside Wednesdays Daylight Savings is upon us, so it's time once again for our standing Wednesday Westside rides. Where: Sylvan exit Starbucks/Shell station (where Skyline meets Highway 26). When: Every Wednesday night during the summer! Update: Meeting at 5:30 and getting underway as soon as possible. Route: Generally head up busy Skyline with different side routes (McNamee, Newberry. Logie Trail) thrown in. Ride for 1–2 hours, depending on light. This is normally a fairly technical route well-known by many on the ride. [Contact me or one of the other ride leaders (Fun4i, Polvo2, Twisties4me, etc.), if you have questions or are new to the ride and want someone to watch out for you.] See you there! Sometimes even when it's sunny, no one will show up and on other days, even when it's not sunny, it's a crowd. It depends more on people's schedules than the weather I think. |

We will prolly show up anywayz, but stay at the back. We just went down Skyline tonight and the roads were great. Kept a solid 50mph on the south side of Thompson. |

| MotoGP Champion | If it is not raining, I'll most likely go. I did Skyline Saturday in the rain and Sunday also in the high winds. Besides some downed branches and leaves, the roads were fairly clear. I also played with a Carrera S4. I thought the S4 stood for four cylinder, it was so slow. |

We are doing a 7 ish thing in Vancouver at the Firkin and frog, and Friday nights at the Drags. Nice to have some options as my days to ride usually just happen to me, spontaniety is grand but I do like having some structured events that I know I can go to. Oh yeah, there's the first Sunday thing at Beaverton Honda too. |

As far as the ride tonight, I need to see how the girl is feeling. If she is up for it, we may hit the ride tonight doubled up. |

| MotoGP Champion | Just kidding about McNamee (unless someone is "dying" to do it). If I lead, I've got another loop in mind that I did this weekend. It dives down the west side of Skyline rather than the typical (and steeper) east side. If it's still light after that, we can run down Logie Trail and then either up McNamee or Newberry back to Skyline. |

| MotoGP Champion | Wonderful, Darren and Valvesprung. I hope a lot of lurkers are intending to show up. A day like this is just irresistible. I am going to try to make it from work to home to Sylvan by 6:00, to take advantage of as much daylight as possible. |

Never made it out to any PNWR rides, been lurking for awhile. I'm familiar with the general area, but I intend to take it easy and enjoy the weather. |

| MotoGP Champion | ![]() But, the roads I'm thinking of are pretty much like Skyline, which is to say two-lane asphalt through rural undulating roads with blind turns, bicyclists, pokey cars coming across the center line a bit at times (to get around said bicyclists), some gravel and or debris. Nothing I'm sure you haven't ridden on previously. It won't be a race, but the pace may pick up from time to time. |

| MotoGP Champion | I'll most likely go over these at the ride, if time permits. But, for your prior knowledge, here are the rules of the road for standing rides: Ride your own ride. Dont feel pressured to keep up. If your heart is racing, then back off and go at a pace you feel calm at. If you see gaps opening up in front of you or you feel pressure from behind, you can wave faster riders past as you pull to the right. Do not pass another rider within the lane. Allow plenty of room to pass and be as courteous as possible. Very important! At intersections, stop where the next rider behind you can see you and wait for him or her to arrive before taking off. That rider should then wait for the next rider to arrive and so on until the sweep arrives. Do not leave the group without informing someone else, so we dont have to come looking for you. Tell the ride leader and/or sweep if you have any reservations about the ride. They will adjust the ride accordingly and/or keep an eye on you. |

I like curves like the next guy, but that was just painfull in some spots. I hit some gravel in one of those tight areas and came really close to losing it. |

I haven't been on a spirited ride since last summer so my skills are a bit rusty. |

I have a question about this one: Is this so that no one gets lost, or is there another reason for it. I like it, just not sure if I am understanding it completely. |

| MotoGP Champion | ![]() ![]() Seriously, we don't leave anyone behind and we don't expect anyone to ride over their skill level or comfort level. The roads are just typical rural twisties that can be taken anywhere from 25 to 55 mph. You pick your speed. I suggest starting near the back and if you feel you can pick up the pace, pass riders. If you feel you are going too fast for comfort, drop back. The sweep will always be behind you to keep you safe. |
