Need a good traffic ticket lawyer STAT

Discussion in 'Portland Region' started by filmguy123, Jul 31, 2015.

  1. Got a 65 in a 40 up in Washington. $259 fine. I have a perfectly clean record before this.

I actually find it hard to believe I was going 65 but I was not looking. I was going with traffic. Semi rule area with a speed change down to 40. IMO, lame, but, whatever. The officer was nice.

In any case it's near Seattle in the rural area. I live in Portland.

1.) I don't have a pre-paid legal subscription yet. Not sure if I could do this and be eligible for coverage? They say I have 15 days to respond.

2.) Likelihood of at least getting it to not go on my record? What might a lawyer be able to help with here?

3.) Suggestions for a good lawyer? Feel free to PM me. I don't mind paying for a good lawyer. I just do not want this on my record.

4.) Anyway to get it so the attorney can rep me in court and I don't have to drive all the way back up to WA for this?

  2. Jeannie Mucklestone just got my $1000 ticket dismissed

  3. She has a good reputation on the corvette forum as well.

  4. Out of state is probably what they are counting on hoping you will just pay it and go away. I have served on juries and been in court observing on a number of occasions. It was pretty cut and dried from what I have seen. Get a lawyer and 'usually' get rid of the ticket with a reduced fine. Go it on your own and get the fine reduced but the ticket stays. Best of luck.

  5. thanks! so she looks really great, I may just go with her!

The one concern is that there's no guarantee in that you pay a flat rate whether she gets it dropped, dismissed, reduced, or not at all. Are there any other really good alternatives?

And I don't suppose there's an easy option for reduced fine / no insurance report / traffic school or something of that sort given I have a clean record?

  7. Lawyers get paid. Period. No guarantee's, no promises. But, your odds of getting off are reduced to little to none otherwise.

  8. Right.

How serious of a ticket is 25 over (65 in a 40) and how does that change when its in WA as a licensed Oregon driver? Does it change the way points or coding is handled? Or would the Oregon laws apply for 65 in a 40 even though it occured in WA?
