I'm looking for a new route to the coast. Alsea-Deadwood to Florence looks interesting but cannot find if it is paved the whole way. Google Street View is missing a big chunk in the middle and I'd hate to end up out there and have to turn around. Nope. Not paved all the way. There will be miles of gravel as you ride the south edge of Prairie Mountain between the turn off from Lobster Valley rd to Swamp Creek Rd. Doable on a street bike, but not really fun. If you have dual purpose bike, it's a fun ride.
That is some phenomenal riding in that area. I haven't been down there In about 5 years but back then I found a workaround that was paved the whole way. It took a lot of exploring to make it happen.
