Note that I am also wearing a $100 Teknic suit that I picked up over the winter at Paulson's. Local shops rock. Darren Beatty has more photos of the race that I will be purchasing shortly. Especially the ones where I am still temporarily in front of John Wood #934. |

| Evil Genius Joined: Mar 2007 From: Olympia I Ride: Ninja 250 project, DRZ 400 project | So I realized that aerodynamics are an issue, especially when my weight isn't doing me any favors compared to all these damn skinny people. So, I busted out the original upper fairing I had sitting on the side of the house, and went to town. Evaluating how bad it is - ![]() Note the color-matched zipties (again) - ![]() Somebody tried to... epoxy? the fiberglass on the left side - ![]() Mounting it up - ![]() Cutting down the front plate so it will fit over the headlight hole (easy to bend the cardboard to fit the front plate) and clamping it for superglue since I don't want water getting in and damaging the "number plate". ![]() This bike never came with a windscreen, so I checked with the WMRRA Referee (also my mentor, aka pscook) and verified that I could chop up a spare R6 windscreen I had lying around. There are no bodywork restrictions on the old-gen's, which gives me some ideas for what I might do next year. ![]() Again, an angle grinder with cutting blade melts plastic very efficiently. ![]() Putting it all together - ![]() Another angle - ![]() I'll get a full-on side shot tomorrow. It looks more like a Ninja 250 now, so jezterr can stop labeling all his photo albums "911 Vintage". Or not. |

My total costs right now are just over $1,000 and unless I blow up the motor, I think (hope) it's mechanically a very sound bike. |

Best of luck with the rest of the season. I'm hoping the motor comes through to the end! | |
