It was tough fiting everything behind it. There are a ton of plugs and other crap at the front. I will probably tear into a complete rewire of the bike this winter. I'm just trying to get it ridable for the summer then I'll tear into a custom tail, belly pan and a few other things. Last edited by RC51; 07-05-2012 at 07:15 PM.. |

Not bad for having it torn down to basically an engine siting in a rolling chassis. Almost have enough pennies saved up for some titanium cans from ladybird. Those will probably be getting ordered withing a month. I still have to bleed the rear brake and get the undertail and wiring in the tail sorted out. I'm debating between the plain or the colored titanium cans. My mids are plain, but will turn blue on their own. Any thoughts? Funny to see how folks will throw stones at something your doing. Always seems that small minds tend to gravitate towards only seeing other peoples worlds through their filtered lenses...shame as they miss so much. My hats off to you for a completely bad-ass build and I am liking the quality of the fit on your components. Fun thinking outside the box on how you can re-purpose things! I have always had in the back of my mind doing something similar to a Gen I busa I have...either the "dual sport" kinda mod or the street fighter. The R1 is a great inspiration for the dual, but there is something down right killer about street fighters and I am liking this one big time. |

I just wish it wasn't an extra $70 a can for it. I have a hotbodies undertail on the way that needs some work (the tail already does) so I will be playing with some plastifix soon. All this nice weather is killing me.... |

Got the coolant overflow bottle mounted, and the titanium cans came in, so it is rideable other than exhaust hangers and getting it registered and plated. I think I'll just make some hangers with some aluminum flat stock since the exhaust isn't heavy at all. I still have to figure out the ignition, I still want to do an RFID keyless ignition, but that will have to wait until I tear it down again for a complete rewire and move everything around. I did get the chance to a few things. I scored a set of brand new front brake rotors off a 06 or 07 CBR1000RR. They are a direct swap with the only difference being the thickness of the rotors. They increased the RC rotor thickness on the SP2 model to battle warping issues, so hopefully these won't do that. If it happens, I can always use the stock rotors. I mainly did this just for looks, as I absolutely fucking hate gold shit. If I had the money, I would tear down the Öhlins rear shock and anodize it black. I also installed some black caliper brackets that I have been holding onto for a while. $85 of goodness: ![]() Old rotor, ugly gold anodizing: ![]() New black rotors: ![]() What the ugly ass stock gold calipers and rotors used to look like: ![]() All together now: ![]() |

The second bike I owned and started to learn what motorcycling was about was a SuperHawk I bought new in '64. Rode it until '69 when the US Army requested I attend to our country's business for a couple of years. I lost count of the Seattle/Moses Lake/Seattle and Hwy 395/I-5 loops through Oregon, tires, chains and spark plugs. Still have good memories. I get out to the Kingston/Hansville area occassionaly and wouldn't mind seeing it. |
