Look what I picked up!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT

This makes me a happy person! Saved $150 compared to all the other sets of fairings that are being sold.

What do you guys think? Should I powdercoat the wheels orange? Or should they stay black...

Every single person that has bought ebay plastics (myself included) probably won't ever do it again. The fit and finish is usually quite terrible, and they're typically very thin and cheap feeling... but like I said, I've done it

The fitment will not be perfect, this I know. However the fairings are ABS plastic, not fiberglass, this is a plus. The guys on 600RR.net have a review on these fairings and I guess they are actually really good for the price. And at $350, I'm not really at a loss, even if they are junk fairings that can be used at the track.

As for the tank cover, that is how the CBR600RR's are. The tank is a metal one underneath that is a really funky shape.

ABS means that if it is too thin it will warp & deform as it heats up! Get some stick on fiberglass heat resistant sheets to put on next to hot spots!

Yes, this is why stock bikes have heat shielding material on the inside of their fairings. And it "seems" like these fairings will come with some installed, however if that is the case I will most likely put more on them. If none comes on them, don't fret, lots will be added.

Thanks for the heads up anyways.

Not paypal with my experience. They give my money back with ease to people with bullshit stories, however I have not delt with eBay directly.

But lets all think good thoughts please.

I will give everyone an update on the quality of these things when they arrive.

Only if you don't read the fine print...better getting it back a month down the road than not at all.

Haha yea I guess it could be misconstrued as a KTM. I just thought it was different than the norm. I like the color and it will definately stand out.

JohnnyM, for once, don't hate.

I agree. I was just talking this over with someone that I work with. But what I will most likely do is just do an orange rim stripe, until I can afford to powder coat nearly everything on the bike black and or orange.

And I don't care about the "hatters" as you call them. I love the color and I have enough know-how to make these fairings fit and look good.

2000 F4 was stock Orange

and 2006 had a stock Orange

KTM only went orange in '97... in the Mid 80's when Honda went to plastic tanks they tried for red but anyone who has owned one knows that after some sun... they were orange

Make sure you get all the mounting bolts... I folded a fiberglass one on my f4i... at 130... but folded non the less because I forgot one bolt. Hopefully these used a molding more like the stock ones and not the fiberglass ones.

Fairings showed up today!
So after 2 weeks the fairings showed up. This was actually faster than I anticipated. These things are actually pretty darn decent, I am overly pleased. They have good weight to them, good flexibility, and okay fit as far as mounts matching up. They also threw in a smoked windscreen, that doesn't fit at all LOL. Oh, they also slapped on heat-shielding material, which is poorly placed and could have been done MUCH better, but hell, it's there.

I will take some pics tonite and probably mount these bad boys up on the CBR tomorrow, then take more pics!

Also, the fairings were packed well! One layer soft wrapped, 2x layer bubble wrapped EACH, box layered with styrofoam and supported with cheapy particle wood. No scratches or scuffs, just a few minor imperfections in the paint.

*edit* found a small chip on one of the parts, luckily it will not show whatsoever or affect the mounting

@ Chipper6 - No fiberglass parts here. All molded ABS plastic. Pretty thick too. I compared these side by side to the set I got from Jezter, which I'll assume were OEM at some point in time, and they were damn near identical in weight and thickness. Tabs are built up very well and seem sturdy. We will find out just how sturdy after a few wheelies ha.

I bought a set for my 07 GSXR and it fit perfect! No alterations needed. The paint was amazing, the decals were in the correct positions.

I would definately do it again.

Needless to say, there are tons of companies selling plastics out of japan and china. Just hope you found a good one.
